Almost there. Test footage, stills, and production footage really soon.

I would guess many people could afford the $6-$8k for the adapter-relay, but not a set of cine primes or zooms!

If the crop factor is around 50% for SLR lenses (this is what I've read re the Academy Frame, but I'm not sure) then your widest lens ie a Canon FD 15mm will become a 30mm? If this is right that ain't much for your widest lens.

A 50mm SLR 35mm lens would have a field of view of 40 degrees, a 50mm Cine lens would have a field of view of around 28 degrees, so it's considerably more field of view than 50% of SLR.

Again, I believe that Letus has built these three relays for the rental market. I agree with Joseph, I don't see EX-3 owners running to spend $9K on an Ultimate and 1/2" Relay lens, plus glass.

You go Kholi! That's a 500 isn't it? Need to see a wedge chart at different Relay lens F-stops please. Also a scene that would show contrast differences at different Relay F-stops.

Could you put grips on that Letus set up?

Yup,

Here is the Pro relay, Ultimate, PDW 700, Zeiss Superspeed and full Zacuto B4 rig including hand grip

That's cool Philip. The 700 is XDCAM HD at 50Mbps, 4:2:2 full raster, correct?
So, that's two great cameras for testing the B4 Pro. Looking forward to footage!

Yes! That's what I was hoping for. AVC Intra 100?

You know it.

And the setup in the images I posted wasn't actually a setup. I did a quick one to test the image. If you work with Zacuto gear there shouldn't be ANY issue in getting whatever you want on this camera.

I imagine it'll look like what Steve posted and Phillip as well.

Yup. Zacuto has both the LWS (lightweight support) and Zephyr plates to adapter ENG cameras to use these adapters. It's a pretty slick setup and you can still use the camera's shoulderpad and the works. They'll work with any ENG cameras from the new HPX300 all the way up to the big HPX3000!

Sorry for the fanboy rant.

We'll all get our footage soon enough! Be patient with Phil, Kholi, Steve, and the gang. They have to do something to bring in the bread and butter! :)

Philip,

I see a bit of vignetting on the left and right edge of frame, is that optical or post induced?

Philip,

really? I can't see it...although I do believe Hien may be cropping the relay to the same amount as the pro 35 as there was a small amount of vignetting on the really wide lenses.

OK many would say that I'm biased... But I did see the image couple of times to be totally certain...

But I see edge softness in the corners and CA...

From my experience all these could be from the front lens... on the other hand in academy size wouldn't bother the front lens normally...

But when we are so jumpy with Blade... we have also to point out what we see with the others...

Philip what was your aperture in this shoot on the relay?

Also, focus seems to be off on this grab as it's pretty soft. I can't tell whether you're trying to focus on the tree or the background.

Thank you for posting the demo Philip. I see CA on the 25mm Zeiss Super Speed, slight vignetting on the 25mm and 50mm, but not on the 35mm and 85mm lenses. I think edge to edge looks good, from what can be ascertained by these scenes.

I'd sure like to see a wedge chart for any adapter or relay lens samples, with multiple taking lenses. There is no better way to judge edge to edge and CA, IMO. The other useful tests would be different f-stops on the relays for contrast changes on a real life scene.

I think Hien is going to have to crop the Letus relay to same degree as the Pro 35 to avoid any slight vignetting. There is a reason why the pro35 crops the academy frame size and this is it. A shame for us SLR lens users...

Am sure Joseph Stunzi and others will do the more scientific tests. Never been one for charts!!
