I don't know how many of you are aware of the show John and Kate Plus 8, but if your married, I can only guess its your wife's favorite show. No shame in watching it.

From what I've seen, the show is shot on Sony HDV cameras. I'm guessing FX1's, but I can't tell. Camera work/quality looks better than home movies, but about equal to that of a reality show.

But TLC airs these very well shot commercials for the show with John/Kate and the kids at a park, which you can tell is not spontaneously shot with HDV cameras. Every shot is smooth, overcranked slow motion. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about what these commercials were shot with? Looks like it could pass for Film if it isn't.

I've seen the spot and the show (I'm married with twins -- the show makes us feel better), and , like you I've spotted the Sonys. I don't have any inside info about the commercial, but I doubt it's film. I just can't imagine them wanting to take the time to shoot film while trying to wrangle all those kids. And mag changes every 10 minutes? Ha! They probably just used a better cam with variable frame rates.

I have also seen those spots and they look great. The footage is nice and the graphics layout is really well done music is great. It always gets my attention.

It doesn't look like anything more than 60fps over crank that the HPX's could do, the DOF would suggest at least 2/3rds cam? I would also like to know what cam it is shot on.

If you want this thread to really get some juice just put the word RED in it somewhere.

Maybe it was shot on RED??????

Let the madness begin
