SGPro Blade Review

Hi Phil,

Maybe we can work out an adapter or something. Im sure we can design something pretty quick and get it machined pretty easily.

I have the EX3 relay for Letus now. There is no simple way to stick the Blade or any other adaptor without serious mods. It's a very nice solid piece of kit. Going to be weird to have to be properly disciplined with prime lenses again like i was with my Brevis!

Properly disciplined?

What's the gate on the EX-3 relay? Still academy instead of vistavision?

WOOHOO! SGBlade was just delivered!

Congrats, mine arrived as well. Man what a world we live in; an item ships out on Fri practically halfway around the world and shows up on your doorstep on Mon morning. I know what I'll be doing tonight after work as well :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

I would like to point out that because everyone in Britain is a miserable moaner, the courier companys have got used to rushing stuff everywhere because they get moaned at if they are 15 seconds late. Everything is next day here as standard. :-D

Moaning wins again.

Please post new footage asap...theres some new 1080 footage on vimeo...no problems in it...

Peter,
the footage you shot..was that with the same achromat as the version thats shipping? cos your ex1 stuff looks nice too.

any of you new sgblade owners got an ex1?

I like what I am seeing so far with the Blade. Does anyone have, or could take some pictures of the Blade in the snorkel up position using Zacuto stuff? Even though it may not be the case, it just looks a bit shaky to have the camera up so high off the rails... Thanks!

Philip,

Could you tell us what the length of the EX3 relay is? Is it the same as the Letus B4 Compact or the B4 Pro? What is its maximum aperture?

What are the length of the rods that come with the SGBlade? The product page on their site still shows the old ones. And it looks like each rod is really 2 screwed together? What length is each section?

ecking,

The rods are 40cm long.

The Rods Support that is currently sold seperately on the website is indeed our older one. We have not had time to put the new one up.

The line in the middle is simply where the machine holds the material, it is 1 peice, not 2 screwed tpgether.

Hi Philip.
You probably didn't try, but from the pictures on your blog (EX3/relay/ultimate), It looks like you can proper balance taht rig on the shoulder and still use original viewfinder (just adding some rear weight). But then I don't know the EX3 screen and if you can look into it so close (I suppose EX3 lcd flip open works like "old" beta viewfinders when flip open).

I'd like to get rid of external 7"lcd. I just came back from a 5 virals in 2 days shot that killed me (all shoulder..)

Cheers

(oops. sorry. I forgot this thread focus on SG Blade)

Blade performed VERY well on shoot today, used both it and the Letus Ultimate.

Were you able to use the Blade with the Letus 1/2" Relay lens? Did you feel the Letus 1/2" Relay offered benefits in sensitivity or sharpness or contrast vs. the stock EX3 lens, especially if both the Relay and stock lens were wide open?

What 2/3" camera do you plan to test the Letus B4 Pro Relay with?

No one knows yet. The SGBlade has been exposed to the wild for a very short amount of time. Why not buy them both for yourself... and sell of the one you don't like!

G I V E M E A B R E A K!!!

As far as I understand, Letus Extreme has a backfocus problem while GBlade has a Chromatic Aberration with the EX1 problem. Both go for about the same price.
