How to make footage look corrupted?

Hello,

I'm shooting a short where a group of people find a camcorder with footage on it. During the playback I'd like for the footage to stop, start, break up with white noise, freeze with streaks in it, etc. Does anyone have any advice on how to make these effects?

I know how to freeze the footage, speed it up, slow it down, and such, but I don't know how to simulate white noise, make streaks in the footage, make it look corrupted, etc.

I would use After Effects for this.

There are a number of presets that you can easily customise and key frame as well as add your own "mess" to an overlay.

Hey, that's a great idea! I have AE b/c I have the CS2 package, but I don't know much about it. Good time as ever to start using it, hu? LOL

Its an awesome package but it also has a steep learning curve.

Go for it and be aware ...you will never master it but you will learn something everytime you you play with it.

Hunt down some basic online tutoriasls then get a basic book.
