Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Hehe... she is hot ain't she! lol... I didn't pay her shi*, and when I behave she even cooks for me sometimes. she's actually my fiancee, lol

Kegan, sometimes I throw technique out the window... often that's my best stuff. Well, apparently only IMO.

Timur, I was this close to bringing a 4x4 and a 2x4 silver/white with c-stands but we were traveling light... once I set this up I was like !@#$ why didn't I bring it... but oh well... I'll try to bring her back in post a bit.

Actually, we'll hopefully have a little post coming up from Matt Grunau, who did some tweaking to that little jpeg and got a bit more out of it in a very organic way. I don't think he put a lot of time into it though but better than leaving her in the shadows.

I definitely agree Roberto. I love the photo, don't get me wrong! It just goes to show that you don't always have to be technical to grab an amazing moment.

Congratulations on your gorgeous fiance!

oh! yea dude totally... thanks man... I don't really deserve any of the credit though, it was all her... she's the sweetest girl you'd ever meet, all I did was look for it and she knows what she is doing so it was even easier than you think... of course a DLSR would have helped though, I have a slight delay that pisses me off on my P&S

I also shot some film with that OM-1 in the picture, unfortunately the meter is bust so I was guessing, rofl!!! I can't wait to laugh at myself when I see those, lol... but hopefully one or wto will be decent and if I do a nice scan I should be able to bring her back a ton. we'll see... can't wait to shoot with a DSLR though... if I had one I'd like to think I would have brought the bounces

A couple of panoramas from a trip to virginia a year ago. Only now did I have a moment to stitch them.

A cavern reflection pool...

Cool, really like how you feel like you were hiking up that mountain, makes me want to walk along that trail on the right to look at the view, lol

and I am always disappointed when I see cave stuff, but not with this pano...

"Cool, really like how you feel like you were hiking up that mountain"

There was a parking lot right behind the camera....

I wish, that was a 1.5hr hike each direction.

Let's try this one more time...

Okay, no. Still soft. The image was looking soft in my online photo site (Filefront). So, I thought that was the culprit. Then, I uploaded this photo using Picasa's online photo upload feature. It looked much better so I thought that would solve the problem but when I paste it here it looks soft again.

Any suggestions or ideas? I'm stumped.

Hey your pano worked! I wonder if you could bring out some of the green on the hills to the right? I like the first butterfly but it looks like its got a broken wing... did you hurt it? :)

hey guys. not sure why my pano is missing. but, there it is. missing. maybe picasa is down. i found it to be a bit blurry last night when i posted it US.

As for the butterfly...actually I should have explained because it was kind of a touching scene....that is actually 2 monarchs. The one of the bottom wasn't moving much if at all. And let me tell you for a frantic 20+ minutes this Monarch butterfly tried to grasp and get a hold of this second butterfly to either bury it or bring it to safety. I was at a place in Pismo Beach that has a protected Monarch Grove (some of the other shots aren't interesting but I will post just so you can see what it looks like when they cluster together nest in the trees...pretty spectacular.) At any rate, this Monarch worked for a good solid 20 minutes drawing a small crowd to watch and cheer it on. I got distracted by my girlfriend but when I came back one of the little girls there pointed way up in the sky the Monarch and its fallen brother as it fluttered up into the trees. I have a picture of that too but it is very hard to spot the butterflies next to the tree leaves. But this little guy made it!

PT...actually, the brokeh wasn't manipulated at all. I was standing at a pretty good distance but was using my 4.0L 70-200mm with 1.4 extender which I think was why the the foreground and background are both pretty blurry. It was very hard to get a crisp shot to begin with. But you are right. I noticed the brokeh myself...and not especially in a good way. It looks forced or phony or as you said manipulated in a way. But, sadly, this is the best shot I got because it was hard to get a crisp shot of the actual butterfly.

Wow!...Good story and a really nice shot too. Glad you told us about the two Monarchs as I never would have noticed. Funny your GF distracted you, mine would have been calling the animal hospital for a team to help out, she's nuts about Butterflies:)

Rick, oh dear - shooting butterflies with a 70-200 and 1.4 extender? So what aperture were you shooting with? So if this bookeh is real..damn. You did a very good job getting this butterfly so crisp.

I am going to post more shots of the butterflies and misc. Just so you all know....it was a dark day and they were quite high up (far away) so they are dark and distant. I C.C'ed the first few but not the last few because I wanted you to see just what they looked like and how difficult they were to actually see with the naked eye...they were pretty spectacular....the shots are just records of the day. They aren't artful or anything...

And now some non CC'ed...so you can get an idea of how invisible
they are...
