Hey guys,

I have searched the forums, google searched it, and looked at every other forum. I have found how to make my 16:9 footage (shot on an XH-A1)
play on any TV whether it be 4:3 or wide screen

I want it to fit the full frame on a wide screen and i want it to fit the 4:3 tv with the letter box bars on top and bottom, (none of the side cropped off)

Here is my settings for one of the wedding montage

i shot in wide screen and then cropped to 2.35:1
I would like it to look like this on a 4:3 TV

no possible way. thats a DVD player setting. Burn a 16:9 DVD and if your client is watching on a 4:3 TV they *may* have to go into the set up and choose to play as letterbox instead of pan & scan.

Choose 16x9 letterbox instead of LB+Pan and scan on your display mode setting. It has always worked for me except for those rare dvd players that won't display 16x9 correctly on a 4:3 tv.

The other option is to render out a 4:3 letterboxed version of your videos and have a choice between widescreen and standard as your first menu. Depends on how full your dvd is already if it will fit two copies. The audio assets can be reused, saving a little space...I think? A lot of work, but it assures that it can be displayed correctly on all players.

Of course if somebody has their dvd player setup wrong for their TV, there's nothing you can do about that... (and they probably wouldn't notice anything wrong with your movie anyway) I hate those people. :)
