well... new Maxell P2 cards are out

Dang it. I've been looking to buy some more cards but..but..
You mean I gotta wait?...... sigh ...

If you want a crystal ball reading...:) I would expect "about" 10% cheaper, but not more than 20% cheaper.
But to be honest, I would wait 3-6 months to see how reliable they are before worrying about saving the estimated 10%.
 
I'm not sure reliability is a question here... most everything these days are made in one factory and stamped with different labels.
 
... And more often than not the reason the same product made from the same factory is cheaper is due to lower QC standards.

Not to mention the fact it may be cheaper since they use cheaper (hence POSSIBLY lower grade) ram dimms.
 
I agree that quite often "generic brands" are just as good.
I've found several generic brands of groceries that are just as good. And many more that were awful.
But with those I just lost a good meal. :)

I'm not likely to gamble on my clients footage and my reputation to save about 15% on a generic brand.

Don't get me wrong, I know Maxell will meet many peoples needs perfectly. But for me I'll play it safe with the reputation Panasonic has proven to me.
JMHO.
