OverExposure.. The best way to do it...

What do you think is the best way to achieve an end result image that is HIGHLY overexposed, meaning that everything is white except only a few choice "props" or a face or eyeball...etc AND have a very clean, noise-free and sharp image?

Originating on HQ digital HD-

Would you:

A) Overexpose the image in camera on the set to get the final image I'm looking for (maybe minus a little extra contrast added in post)

or

B) Expose the image well, but not over in all areas, (particularly the edges) and control the overexposure in post.

or

C) Some other method

If you are going to say, "It depends on the camera" let's say it's a RED ONE and also a D90, both with fast lenses. I know this makes no sense, but just flow with it.

I would start by "overexposing" in lighting. This does not mean opening the iris randomly.

Set a white bg and light it at 100% white. (+/- 5%)

"Overlight" your subject some degree but allow room in post to take it further.

If you overblow white in-camera you can get some very undesireable results that are not controlleable.
