NHL 2008-2009 thread

Good win last night, you guys beat the best team in the leauge.

It's crazy how over the past 8 years basically every Boston sports franchise has turned it around from nothing. Pats, RedSox's, Celtics and now the Bruins.

Anyone see Jarko Ruutu biting Andrew Peters hand last night? I'm sure the league is going to rule on this quickly and he'll probably get 5+ games. WTF bites someone in hockey (or even just in general)? Ruutu has always been a punk.

And while were on the topic of douches, what did you guys think of Sean Avery? The Stars basically just tossed him off their team after his comments on Elisha Cuthbert. Honestly I think the league suspended him immediately before the game to try and stop something crazy from happening. That being said, he totally deserved what they gave him and this isn't the first time, he's notorious on the ice for talking about players kids and wives. He's ass and I hope he doesn't play in the league again. And what the hell was Brett Hull thinking on signing him to a 4 year 14M contract.

I've always hated Avery. The guy is always talking ****, but can't back it up. They should have forced him to play that night and see what Dion Phaneuf had to say about the situation. He would've crippled him.
 
Any of you guys have NHL 09 for the PS3? This game is poo pooing awesome.

Unfortunately no, but I plan on picking it up for the Wii next week. I can't wait. I haven't heard a bad word about it.
 
Of course it's on a channel that my cable company doesn't carry, so I'm stuck watching the stream online.:(

Not the best game. 6-1 pounding.

It's all good though, this team isn't making the playoffs this year and were rebuilding so I'm hoping we finish as low as possible to get a shot at John Tavares.

Ottawa faltered yet again. The game was on in HD.
They now need to clean house.

I said it after they made the Stanley Cup finals and they replaced the GM and Coach. I said... What the hell!? You made the finals and you start cleaning house!?? Ever since then they haven't been the same.

Now they have no choice.

That would be nice. The Wild are going to end up in between again. They might make the playoffs, but won't go anywhere. We haven't had a decent draft pick in awhile.

I think with 34 games remaining we could will probably go something like 12-19-3 which would have us finish around 70 points. I'm hoping.

Yeah, it really sucks, we finished two years in a row in 9th which is the worst possible spot, don't make the playoffs and you get a mediocre pick.

Yeah, no kidding. They were terrible last night.

I find justin.tv is really slow and cuts out quite a bit. Check out this site - http://www.atdhe.net/index.html - They have by far the best quality streams and they very rarely ever cut out, basically every game is on.
 
You're absolutely right about www.atdhe.net. I usually end up linking their from myp2p.eu, but I can never remember the URL. The quality is awesome and I love the plain black background. :beer:

Yeah, it's a sweet site.

You check out any of the All Star "game"? If you want to call it that. I wish the NHL would just ditch the whole idea, it awful to watch. The skills competition on the other hand can be fun to watch though.

The game itself is a joke and I can't believe the league suspended Datsyuk and Lidstrom for not attending. Bettman is a moron.

Next year, there not having the all star game due to the olympics as the league is taking a two week break, to allow the players the chance to play. It's going to be pretty cool having the games in Canada, let alone the city I live in. This place is going to be nuts for Team Canada.
 
Yeah, I saw that pathetic excuse for a game. What a disgrace. Hockey without physical play isn't worth playing.

Tickets are already going for like a grand. And even like the qualifying - Kazakstan vs Belarus type games are expensive.

The US should a have an alright team next year too, with guys like Kane, Gomez, Drury, Parise, Mueller, Kessel, Miller, Thomas and Dipietro.

Team Canada is going to be sick....

I had no idea this p2p viewing was possible. Looks like I found out about it too late, tho. myp2p.eu has a news note on their site that says they're in legal discussions with the NHL...I'm guessing that means they're getting sued :)

But, atdhe still has some games. I'm going to give it a try tonight!

My Wild are in enemy territory tonight vs. the Canucks. So far, things are good with a 2-0 lead, but we'll see what happens.
