TADAAAAAA.

All drawings are off to the machine shop tomorrow. I will have two fully working prototypes, all CNC cut, laser printed and assembled, as the production version will be. I will be using these for testing, probably give one to Mr Bloom for a bit etc etc.

Let me know what you think, but will replace the 3D renders for actual photographs soon.

glad to see some new info. I'm anxiously waiting for this to be released. Price is certainly my biggest concern.

Hi,

A nice update:

Everything is taking off for the Hocus Focus. I have been ordering parts all day, getting stuff machined and printed, all in time for the Video forum exhibition at Earls Court in London in a few weeks.

I will have two production follow focus units at the show. Please come and see me if you would like to know more.

In the mean time, the website is now alive, so anyone that is interested in the Hocus Focus can now register their interest. Dont worry, your details are kept safe, we are just going to use them to send out details and updates.

To register, please visit the site at:

Thanks a lot,

Another update:

Parts are now on order, including many CNC machined and laser etched aluminium parts for the first two production units. These two units will be used for testing and reviews, prior to the production run. We will be at broadcast live in London in the next few weeks so come and see us if you are at the show.

I will have proper photos of the actual units int he next few weeks.

Until then, dont forget to sign up at the Hocus Products site if you want updates on the product progress.

Thanks a lot,

Hi Pete,

Are the 150 pounds still standing after the real production of those two units?

Thanks

Well as discussed earlier on in the thread, it has obviously moved from the original $300 that this thread has in its title, but the product is totally different. When I have shown off the production units with proper photos etc etc I will give pricing info. Its a good bit under $1000, and or something of this spec, I think thats pretty reasonable. this includes TX/RX and the motor, in a case with custom moulded cables etc.

I absolutely cannot wait to come see you at NAB. Looks like you've got an insanely good quality product, with all the bits and bobs available alongside it, and at a price point no one can refuse. Looking forward to using the HoFo :)

Really nice update:

After afew weeks of moaning at various machine shops, aload of stuff arrived and ive been soldering all day and I now have on my desk two production Hocus Focus units, three receivers and three motors. Im taking it to have proper photography done tomorrow, but heres a sneak peek. The disk under the knob and the knob pointer are milled from solid aluminium.

The LEDs in this one are a bit bigger than the final hofo will be. Machine shop cut holes for 5mm led bezels instead of 3mm.

Dont forget if you live in London or can get to London, come and see me and the Hofo twins at Broadcast Video Expo next week.

Also dont forget to look at www.hocusproducts.com if you are interested.

Pete.

Looking really good man. It has been really cool to watch the evolution of the Hocus Focus over the past few months here in this thread.
