Ideas on how to publicise an internet short!

Hi guys,

I've filmed a rather silly little short film called Unprotected Sex.

You can see it here:

It seems to be going down quite well and has been getting reasonable traffic over the last couple of days.

However some of the films on there get tens of thousands of hits in a single week. How would someone go about getting that kind of traffic do you think?

I'm not so much concerned with factors about the subject matter of the films (current events seem to do very well). I'm wondering how you can build up to maintain a steady stream of hits over a long timeframe.

I know that if you go Pro then you get a certain cut of the advertising revenue. This is an experiment to see how the system works.

Cheers, Rick.

To get something with bajillions of hits it simply needs to be viral. You can use internet advertising to drive some traffic, and if you get enough, you might get critical mass and get bumped into the top videos category. Expect to pay about $0.10 per click.
Getting bona fide links online can help, too. Get friends to blog about it and it might help it turn up in search engines.

The title will probably help you do well on atom.

That was a pretty interesting short, pretty gross though. and i agree with ProfessorU about the viral video thing.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Those links are particularly good. It's a bit harder to do on your own than with a viral marketing company unfortunately.:(

Oh well. Just have to start spamming websites by the looks of it.

I post the videos I need big view numbers on on forums I know will get it views.... and forums I know will spread it for me. Viral is just planting a seed in the right place. Place it where people will spread it for you. You will find nothing does this for you like controversy. I have spent a lot of time and money on my productions but my most viewed online video to date is just a locked down shot of me actin' a fool.
