mixing 3200k with 5600k in kino flo

Just wondering if anyone has tried this. I know a DOP swears by it. He uses two 4 light kinos. Each light uses two 3200k and two 5600k mixed together and all 4 bulbs are on at the same time in each light. He uses them for interiors mainly. Is this not wrong ? He says it makes for far less problems when shooting near a window in the daytime. ????

I've actually seen footage lit this way, with the window in the shot on a cloudy day. The interiors looked good and the window was not blown out. I'm just wondering if the interior was comprimised at all by doing this. Meaning would the interior have looked better with all tungsten and no window in the shot.

mixing color temp in kinos work great. I use Divas constantly, and anytime you are lighting an interview in a room with mixed lighting sources, you mix the bulbs and do a custom WB. You can also use just 1 32k and 3 56k if you just need to warm up your source a bit.

It's no wierder than shooting with 1/2 CTO on the windows. I think it usually looks pretty natural to keep your exteriors only half-corrected relative to your interior subject, or vice-versa.

Yah. I almost never correct a tungsten light all the way to daylight if that's what the camera is balanced to. 1/2 CTB looks good almost always and robs a lot less light.

And in Kinos, 1 3200K tube and 3 5600K tubes is very common as stated above.

It's called Salt and Peppering your Kinos. I pretty much leave my 4x4s and Divas with one of each. Works pretty well in daylit interiors as well as office environments.
