Movies You Would Rather Vomit On Than Watch Twice

Maybe it's not exactly the right place to mention a movie I AM watching twice. But I was tired, having done a ton of work today, and thumbed through Netflix on demand as I am wont to do, and decided to go back and re-watch

MATRIX: REVOLUTIONS

I am in complete awe of the massive, massive, almost mind-boggling badness of this movie. Not a single frame that doesn't drip with a thick coating of liquid mundane. Not a single cinematic stitch in the whole thing. And my God, the tedious explanations in every scene. Honestly, dude with your wife and kid, the train man is WHAT? HUH?

discuss.

Also, is that CORNELL WEST? Seriously?

And, the real world sucks. The less time I have to spend there as an audience member, the better.

And if you're going to build big robot battle suits - and I'm no arms designer or anything, but I probably would not build them so that the pilot was stuck on the front. No shield, no cockpit, not even a cup and jock-strap...

What the Bleep Do We Know?!?!

Only time I went back to a video store and demanded a refund. I told the employee and then the manager, that I could not and would not allow myself to pay to watch religious propaganda. The box promised discussion of quantum physics and what I got wass JZ FREAKING KNIGHT, channeling "Ramtha" a 35,000 year old warrior from Atlantis. The film was terrible, insulted its audience intelligence (of course plenty of yahoos did like this film... 7 out of 10's) and was dishonest about its subject matter.

Saw V ...my daughter insisted, of course she insisted we see Cloverfield too. I guess I should be picking out the movies from now on.

You are right about that one. Never have sequels so sullied and killed the mystique of the original film as the Matrix trilogy. The first film was awesome, sparked conversation of philosophy and religous allegory. The second sparked conversation of leather fetishism and third film sparked nothing but confusion and anger.

Dogville (come on, people! It is not a movie, it's just filmed theather)
Oceans 11 ... n
SAW 1 .. n
Blair Witch Project (WTF?)
Cloverfield (Blair Witch Project + VFX)
[most zombie movies]

Even though I enjoy the entire trilogy, I agree that the second and third films needed a lot of work storywise. The third film is much better after the action starts. The thing that was most annoying to me was that they never truly explained how / what the yellow vision Neo has is. It seems like it is supposed to be some sort of spirit energy, maybe the souls of the machines? Too much stuff thrown in too late I say.

The problem was that the character of Neo was taken too far in the first film in terms of how powerful he became by the end. Made a great standalone movie, but when they tried to humanize and develop him further in the sequels he was too powerful and god-like.

Just think how sucky the original Star Wars trilogy would've been had Luke become an all powerful Jedi at the end of Episode IV? There should've been another level for Neo to aspire to rather than just being the savior. Too many secondary characters as well in parts 2 and 3.

In my memory The Matrix 2 & 3 run together so much that I can't even tell them apart. That is not a good thing.

I didn't think Matrix 3 was awful, just pointless, which is kind of worse. Part 2 was a mess, but intriguing in parts, and had a few good sequences. And to be honest, I'd rather watch Matrix 2 & 3 again than the Star Wars prequels. At least I won't be subjected to horrible child acting, inept directing and stilted dialogue. The Wachowski's have a base level of directorial competence.

Torque was the worst movie I ever seen. Followed closely by Batman and Robin. And coming in third has to be Soul Plane.

The star wars prequals were pretty bad as well.

Matrix one and two were great. but the third as Batutta said was just pointless. But I guess they had to finish the story and they make money so why not.

Crystal Skull was horrible as well. Not anywhere neat top 10 but bad nonetheless.

As so strongly illustrated by that masterpiece that was Speed Racer.

I hate to say it, because I loved the original Matrix (and kinda liked Bound), but the Wachowski's record in my books is 1-3-1. Hopefully they can come back, and chalk up a couple more in the W column.

Puke movies:
Spawn
Dumb and Dumber
Anything with talking babies in it.

Dumb and Dumber? Really?

Yeah, but that's admittedly part of a recurring theme - I generally hate movies where the main characters are deliberately irritating idiotic jacka$$es. Hated the Ace Ventura movies too, as well as a lot of Ben Stiller's and Will Ferrell's "best" work. It's not the actors themselves; I've enjoyed several movies those actors have done: Eternal Sunshine, The Majestic, Stranger Than Fiction, Elf, Meet the Parents, There's Something About Mary, Man on the Moon, Tropic Thunder...

But to me there needs to be a balance for the movie to work. The main character can be outrageous, but he has to have some redeeming quality, some humility, if you will (Anchorman and Elf are good examples). Too much over the top and things go from funny/enjoyable to just plain annoying. Jerry Lewis was a master at playing outrageous characters with a heart. Robin Williams, too.

Dumb and Dumber for me is just the epitome of a whole genre of pointless idiocy that I, for one, fail to find funny.

But even Speed Racer is better than the Star Wars Prequels. The problems of Speed Racer have nothing to do with simple elements of craft like believable acting, or staging, or dialogue writing, which George Lucas wasn't capable of delivering competently through much of the prequels.
