garage band to FCP

I created music in garage band and wanted to use it for something i am editing in FCP. I exported to disk from GB and it created a m4a file.

I can't import the file into FCP. I've tried to import, drag it in and do a batch export. I get 'file error: unknown file' message. anyone know whats going on here? Thanks.

You can use QT Pro or iTunes to convert it to a .aiff file to import in FCP.

I believe virtual dub will take that file too

MPEG Stream Clip (free) or as mentioned above QT Pro or itunes

When you export from garage band choose export to disc, and uncheck the compression button.
This gives you an aif file usable in FCP.

yeah, i tried that but it wasn't taking it. I ended up importing it into soundtrack pro and then FCP would take it from there.
