For a section of the skateboarding video that I'm currently producing, i wanted to take a much more cinematic approach than the rest of the video. So i took out an XH-A1 from my school and shot it in HDV at 24F, and I think with a 2:3 pulldown, not the 2:3:3:2 advanced one because the rest of my video is in 60i. however, it looks bad when i drop it into a 480i timeline. I think i know why too, because HD has a field dominance of the upper field and SD is lower, but I don't know how i'd solve this issue. When I imported the footage to the timeline, FCP automatically applied a shift fields filter, but it still looks bad. It looks crystal clear in the preview, but in the interlaced canvas or viewer, it like this.
Anyone know of a good way to solve this? I have after effects as well.
EDIT - It also looks crystal clear when i set it to no field dominance. Is this what I should actually be doing even though it's going to be mixed in with footage in an SD / interlaced timeline from an SD / interlaced camera?
