Does it matter what brand of Ram you buy to run AE CS4

I just had a quick question regarding RAM for After Effects. I recently got an Intel Mac Pro 8 Core, I’m going to be running AE CS4 very heavily.

Does is matter what brand of RAM you buy? I’m going to be picking up a bunch of “Certified Data RAM” possibly going to up 24GB. I also had an option to buy Kingston, but the Certified brand was slightly cheaper and the place I’m looking has a great deal on it. To my knowledge it doesn’t matter but I just wanted to make sure incase anyone has had other experiences.

Many Thanks in advance.

Cheers

I've always bought my RAM from www.memorytogo.com. I have 20 GB's in my machine, but the most AE will ever use is around 12, if I have multiprocessing on. I usually keep it off, but I'm on CS3, I've heard it's better and more usable in CS4.

The Mac Pro seems to be particular over which bands of ram you put into it. The first batch of non-apple chips I tried drove my Mac Pro into kernel panics. I've been just fine after switching to ram from www.otherworldcomputing.com. AE CS4 does multiprocessor rendering much better than CS3. You can even allocate how many processors you want to use and how much ram to leave for the OSX. Have fun!

Also, for those still on CS3, there is a script called Throttle, or editing the prefs, that will allow you to allocate how many processors are used.

Many Thanks for the feedback everyone, i just wanted to be sure since the Certified Data Ram was a bit cheaper then the Kingston, I guess it's just brand prestige.

Cheers
