Fox owns Watchmen!

I just read about that. I hope they don't try to change it up or change the release date. the movie is so close to lock now and really want to see it.

Hm. Sounds like some BS. If FOX wanted the film they should've made it. Warner owns DC comics and Watchmen is indeed a DC property. It would be like FOX owning Superman or Batman, makes no sense. Fox saw there was heat on this and big geek heat which is enough to sale any film (I remember reading some of this when it came out). This looks like it's done so well and Fox feel left out for not moving on this in time. I would've ruled your loss. Probably better you didn't do it anyway. Or ruled a certain amount be paid to Fox but nothing that would interfere with this film. You snooze you lose.

It's really going to suck a couple of big ones if Fux (oh I'm sorry, I meant Fox) somehow gets control of this, takes it out of Snyder's hands, and re-edits it into some lame-arse 80 minute turd.

Seriously, they (Fox) had to have known that Warner was making this. I find it hard to believe that they just discovered this what, 3 months before Warner is scheduled to release the film.

The inmates really are running the asylum.

Of course Fox knew all along--but waiting until they could put Warner over a barrel and threaten to hold up the release date made it more likely that Warner would pay up to settle and not risk a lengthy court battle.

OK . . .

What makes you think that 1) Fox would re-edit this thing, and 2) this ruling would even allow that anyway?

And, 3) that they just "discovered" this now? For a ruling to be handed down this week, it will have been going on for several months at the very least, probably much, much longer, which means that they probably did indeed pursue this while the film was in production.

I'm assuming they figured "It's our book, so why not."

I doubt that, I mean, if ou write a script sa Divinity, and you sell the movie rights to that script to me, that means if I make it or not, you dont have the right to sell it again or make it yourself, I mean yea its your script, but the rights are mine.

DC sold the rights to Fox, Fox ten had the rights to make it or not make it. maybe they were planning on making it but waiting for something, it doesn't matter. Wb should have looked into it, they failed to do so, its their mistake not Fox. Fox has every right to say no, we still plan on making it, so even though you've already shot your version you can never show it to anyone. I doubt they will do that and I hope they don't as I want to see it, but its a hell of a way to hurt a competitor, and maybe even put them out of business.

Fox can ever sue over the trailers that have already been shown, Fox is in the right, WB screwed the pooch on this one

There's money at stake. Everybody will snarl and puff up and bristle, and in the end the movie will be released so that the money can be pocketed.

fox had its worse year this last year and apparently its not getting better. this movie could be the comeback fox needs finically...

The thought processes of many of the commentators are sadly typical.

1) Yeaaahhhh!!! WATCHMEN!!!! WATCHMEN RULEZ!!!!!!

2) Fox is suing!!!! I don't know what for; I don't know anything about the merits of the case or the substance of the ruling; all I think I know is that maybe, somehow, some way, I won't get to see the most superest awesomest movie of all time!

3) Fox SUUUUUUUUXXXXXX!!! #$&*#@&@ THEM!!!!!! Don't go see anything by them!! EVER!!!

Hey maybe this is a blessing in disguise? I mean they did change the ending. They never look like has-beens which they are supposed to be, as in out of shape and wearing old suits.

I wish this happened to Wanted, could have done without that.

You never know, years from now the 2009 Watchmen might show up online like the 1994 Fantastic Four did a few years ago.

I know somewhere out there Alan Moore is laughing.

"1994 Fantastic Four"

I still haven't seen that were online can it be found,

but with over 120 million paid to make the film already I'm sure WB will do what ever the courts tell them they have to do to get this film out.

here's a bit of trivia for you, Jay Underwood (No Greater Love) played the Human Torch in 1994 version of F4.
