So Kanye West Had this great song from his debut album the dropout, called All Falls Down, they in turn did a music video which was entirely in Kanye West's first person. Anyhow, they had a shot, were Kanye West went in the bathroom to wash his hands and when he looked in the mirror, he seen himself instead of the cameraman. How did they do this shot? How can this shot be created? Here is the youtube link to the video below:

The effect im talking about takes place between the 1:46 - 2:14 mark. Thanks in advance guys.

One way to do that shot would be to not use a mirror at all. Build a set where you have sinks and the frame for a mirror and beyond that, through the fake mirror frame is where the urinals and the rest of the bathroom is. This is where your rapper stands, facing the camera. I don't think it's really to hard to match the hand movements, after the fact. After you've filmed your main shot, film the hands against greenscreen and composite them in.

Oh man, there's a way easier way to do that. No need to build a set or anything like that.

Just shoot the scene in a regular bathroom and then motion match that footage onto the mirror in post.

Easy fo sheezy!

so would I pretty much flip the shot then put it in the mirror then key frame the shot in the movement. Still the hands would be difficult

Actually, oddly enough, I watched an MTV Making The Video piece on that video.

For that shot, it was shot handheld, facing a green-covered mirror, and a "hand double" stood directly in front of the cameraguy, putting his hands into frame to mimic the previously-recorded performance by Kanye, recorded from the reverse angle. A lot of work, but absolutely, positively cool.
