Youtube HD about as good as Vimeo now

it does look quite nice.. and the difference now between 'normal' and 'HD' is very noticeable..

Took em long enough.. but Youtube is now a viable place to post content if you care about image quality.

That does look nice. It's hard to tell if it's "as good" as Vimeo without seeing the uncompressed footage or Vimeo's compression.

The youtube hd stuff I've seen hasn't looked as good as vimeo, but that may have just been those particular videos. But even if youtube hd looks just as good, I like the overall vimeo atmosphere a lot better.

I like vimeo, but I don't like paying for posting hd videos (more than one)..... Then I'll upload them to youtube.....

That looks nice.

It was a much needed upgrade. But can't imagine the bandwidth increase this will cause for YouTube. Yikes!

Theres an HD limit unless you pay? That explains why everytime I would try to upload a few HD videos on vimeo, the first one would be HD, and the second one would be SD.

vimeo gives you a either a weekly or monthly allowance on hd content, I'm not sure which(this is lifted if you pay $60). But even then you can't really hate, imagine how hard it is for any other company to start something like that in this youtube world. Vimeo isn't littered with ads and junk like youtube so how are they gonna keep their lights on?

mrbrycel,

looks like youtube is actually going HD... and not just saying 'hd' like many others... so many things claim to be 'hd' but only in terms of clarity and bit-rate.

This is very interesting.
