Well Christmas is upon us. Anybody else not really in the spirt?

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. I know it is a commercialized holiday but I still love the music, the movies and lighting the fireplace throwing back glasses of Blanton's and sipping egg nog. BUT this year it seems different. I'm totally not feeling it. Maybe because I am spending less this year, I don't know. I just want it to be over now. I won't even go near a mall either. My wife is calling me the grinch. Where has my christmas spirit gone? Does anyone at all still enjoy Christmas anymore?

I have more or less forgotten abotu christmas after our break in on monday, as most of my camera gear, two laptops, the TV and both cars were stolen from our house as we slept upstairs. Got to spend all the christmas money to pay off insurance excesses and replace batteries and cases and things.

Very pissed off.

I wish someone would take my cars. The gear would have me :crybaby: like a 3 year old girl. sorry to hear about that.

That truly sucks. On the bright side.... be thankful that while you slept in your beds no harm came to you and your family.
It could have been much worse. Gear can be replaced and I'm sure your insurance is covering most of it.

Just think for a minute... what if you or one of your family woke up and they were harmed? Look at the bright side. It's just stuff. Still, I feel your pain. It's no fun being robbed. You have my sympathy there.

As for Christmas.... I have a very excited 5 year old and she's always happy this time of year. That makes me happy. :)

If you want to get into the holiday spirit see my thread regarding Holiday Heroes :)

My wife Hates "A Christmas Story". I watch it at least twice during the 24 marathon they do every year. If anything puts me in the holdiay spirit it is that movie and listening to holiday music on Sirius.

Insurance company just phoned up and said they were abit suspicious of the whole break in thing. I think they thought id made the story up.

Anyway, after a load of photos and some phonecalls to the police its all sorted. Get my new camera (Z7) fairly soon...

See. Things can be replaced. Family can't.

Have a good one.

This is my list of movies I always make sure to watch over the Christmas holidays...

A Christmas Story
A Christmas Carol w Alastair Sim (black and white)
It's a Wonderful Life
Christmas Vacation
Black Christmas

EDIT: The original Die Hard and Lethal Weapon usually find their way in as well.

The rest is gravy.

...and lets not forget Albert Finney's version of Scrooge!

"Thank you very much...thank you very much that's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me!"

THE best!

I'm not really into holidays, Christmas in particular because it is just an over commercialized excuse to buy stuff. In fact, the expression around here is "Don't poke the Grinch". I like the memories, and the idealism of it, but just can't get into it. I do like Christmas Story though, and it would really annoy the wife when the marathons would come on, as I would watch it several times. Now we have the DVD :) And on a side note, my oldest boy had a Christmas Story Christmas last year, starting with the Ralphie "You'll shoot your eye out Kid" Ornament, Ralphie wrapping paper, and a Red Rider repeating BB Gun with Cumbersome stock. This year, I'm thinking about having my sister give him a pink bunny suit...

Growing up, a lady who worked at Target every year would go on and on about how much my middle brother looked just like Ralphie.

My brother does not like "A Christmas Story"
