Cinevate...behind the scenes!

Some of you may recall that Patrick, Conrad and John from Stillmotion were here a few weeks ago working on a little project with us. The project involved 3 days of shooting, and the end product is actually 3 different edits. One of the goals was to shoot an up front piece (will be on our main website page) to give folks an idea of what we're about. The piece was shot with a Canon XH-A1, EX1, Zeiss lenses (same as the glass we sell) and the 80-200 f2.8d Nikon zoom. There's a few more surprises hiding in there too.

What was planned and what the piece became are quite a bit different, but Patrick ended up capturing our vibe perfectly. Enjoy...and comments are most desired :-)

Thek, Evanglos, thanks :-)

I should mention that the interview pieces weren't supposed to be part of this edit (there's a few more) but I guess when Patrick was editing, he picked up on a bit of emotion there. I think what's really amazing about the Stillmotion crew is that they knew the story we were trying to tell, took a risk in departing from the storyboard...and impressed the heck out of us.

We're definitely going to be doing this again when it's not freezing outside and inviting a few more friends up to join us (Aram, Mike..get your passports in order!)

I loved it... beautifully shot...

I want to do something like that... camerawork and building stuff... :D

awesome. really leaves an impression on what cinevate represents and how reliable your products are. sadly, i dont have any cinevate products but that might likely change. seems like your operation is bigger than i originally thought. i guess i always envisioned the 35mm adapter business to be out-of-the-garage types with connections to manufacturers. apparently you guys got an entire manufacturing factory in your backyard! business must be doing well, congratulations and keep on cinevating!!!

Hello Denis - nice and cool Vid!
I would like to know which stabilizer did they use for the video - very impressing work!

Dennis,

Nothing in this piece surprises me. I have followed you for years since guskercat (sp?). I hope the video helps you sell more of your products because you are in a minority of business people who genuinely care about what you are doing, why you are doing it and for whom.

This was inspiring. Keep up the great work.

Oh, and I should say it is really well shot and put together. Really nice job by Stillmotion also.

Looks great! How did they shoot the interview shots? White limbo? Chroma key? (I'm guessing white limbo)

what's the name of the soundtrack in that video? BTW, my Brevis is a solid piece of work and would recommend it to anyone.

You know, big warm fuzzies all around on this. Guys, your collective comments really mean a lot to us. Disjecta, all credit to the crew at stillmotion...in my opinion, rising stars in this genre.

Jeremy, I'll have Patrick check in on the soundtrack.

Bert, Patrick uses the Steadicam Flyer LE

Mitch, the white background is a white cyc that we picked up for our studio, 10 ft wide, about 20 long. It's pretty much just neutral toned paper...we got it from Vistek and mounted it on our studio wall with a custom made wind up/down roller system. We've cooked up some 4x4 aluminum/powder coated frames with full grid diffusion cloth and fire through these with CFL arrays using 1/2 CT orange gels to bring the color temperature to the same as our hotlights. We're introducing some Ikea-like concepts which will allow folks to obtain these basic essentials from us in high quality, collapsible formats. Apple boxes too...cuz we love them here and jeeps, we're in a sea of trees :-)

Nice work to Dennis and Stillmotion. Very inspiring! There were some really nice sharp shots and the grading was really good too!
