Wooden Textured Letters

Sounds like it could be a 3d app job to be honest, it you wanted it to look like real wood.

If you use a wood texture on 2d titles it may be in danger of looking cheesy but that might be fine for your production, some comedies may use that kinda look.
 
Photoshop would be what you want, but I can't say for sure whether or not Livetype or Motion could do them.
 
Well if you wanted the titles to look like real wood, you'd have to use a 3D app and use a bump map to give the titles the grain needed.
 
You don't need to fool with 3D in the least. All you need is a large wood texture from Google or taken by you and blended via transfer modes. You can do that either in Photoshop or After Effects or something of the like.
