There Will Be Blood - a film by Paul Thomas Anderson

I think this movie is masterfully done, but I can't seem to relate to any of the characters.

Anyone else have this problem?

sheriffs?

Hmm... I also should have not Anglicized it and instead written Sharīf.

His enforcers and protectors as it were.

I couldn't think of a better word than henchmen at the time and didn't necessarily want the negative connotation because I am not now nor have I ever been a henchmen.

But a Sharīf to be sure.

Perhaps he's confused There Will Be Blood with No Country For Old Men. Because they're so similar... :)

Similar but entirely different.

Not those sheriffs though.

But maybe Sheriff Bell to a degree.

Fortunately or Unfortunately I am acutely aware of the differences between each film and have them both.

My youngest son memorized the "If you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake" monologue the first time he watched the film and on more than the rare occasion goes off in to it with any hapless victim he corners.

Sharīf (Arabic: شريف‎) is a traditional Arab tribal title given to those who serve as the protector of the tribe and all tribal assets, such as property, wells, and land.
