Hi Luis
I have used the Carrion a couple of months now and I'm very happy with it, but today when I was about to start shooting the monitor was suddenly not working! No life at all, just a black screen. The power indicator lamp is on so that's not where the problem is.
What should I do? Any suggestions?
/Lars

Being an owner as well I was wondering what recourse I have it something goes down. Luis maybe you could put together a trouble shooting page, or a bit here. Maybe schematics. Or do we just take it to a local electronics repair person?

Luis, (or knowledgeable User)
I'm lloking to purchase a power cord for my Carrion (saving battery life when doing inside shots). The easy part is when I took it to Radio Shack I was able to find a 12v and a plug to fit it, but the tech guy/salesguy says I should match the amp also.
Radio Shack has a bunch of plugs that could be at different volts. I was able to match the plug because it's the same as on the batt. pack. they say I should know the amps also.... cold you help me out here. Should the power cord be anything else but a matching plug and 12volts.
thanks

Chris

Shipping time

are now 10 weeks I have ordered and paid for a monitor Carrion B and I'm still waiting.
If you can not send it quick, do better in returning the money.

WTF is with Luis Sinibaldi???

WTF is with Luis Sinibaldi???

There seems to be a history of Luis Sinibaldi not keeping in touch with clients, not fulfilling orders timely, and not returning products that failed after being shipped to him for replacement.

I Purchased a carrion last year and waited for over 8 weeks to recieve it. Then after the battery plate crapped out, Luis said to send it to him for a replacement. That was over 2 months ago. No replacement, no emails, no response to my numerous emails, text messages and phone calls.

To any of you out there considering the carrion, know a couple of things:

1. It is an awesome monitor for the money.....really F"in awesome.

2. The customer support for it is the complete opposite. It sucks. In fact, it is non-existant at best.

Too bad. I wanted to tell you all that this is worth the savings, but after this crap I have dealt with, I would say shell out an extra thousand and get a monitor from a company that will support your purchase.

Sad to see small shops nose dive with customer service. You'd think they'd try to sell the store than let it crumble with a bad rep.

Not to kick fun at what is clearly, a devastating situation for the customers of this product. But, this is a stunning example of why professional gear cannot be sold for a small markup over the cost of the raw parts. It just floors me every time I hear someone balk at the cost of professional equipment, by pointing out this stuff is made mostly of commodity hardware with a tad bit of industry specific tweaking to the electronics. Yes, correct. But, eventually, if you want the business to be around to support it, then you will want them to be profitable. Or else, they won't be around when you need them. As both a vendor and customer, I urge all businesses to be highly profitable, so they can re-invest in their business and grow it. Part of growing the business is nurturing your existing customer base. The ones you worked so hard to attain. To throw all of that effort away is shameful. Raise your prices, if you must. But, don't be a statistic. Don't be one of the businesses that fails because of something so simple, so fundamental, as underpricing and bad service. If your Unique Selling Proposition is based solely on price, that is a tough place to be. How else can this monitor differentiate itself from others it competes with?

Luis, I have reconsidered and have decided that I do not want to buy the monitor.
Please reload the money in my pay pal account.

I'm sorry, but payment was completed January 13 and I used the monitor to work.
If I had had at least some answers to my mail ...

I amazes me how many people still get sucked into this customer service debacle. So what did you save? 500-1000 bucks. Not even. How long did you wait? How often did you have to subrent a monitor in the meantime. By the time it arrives minus the subrentals (assuming this is for work) plus the time going to and from the rental house, you probably end up paying more. If I had to wait 3 months on a monitor, I'd have spend at least a thousand in subrentals and wasted at least 20 hours back and forth to the rental house. I haven't even mentioned waits on repair.

I own a Nebtek 70HDS. Cost me 2400 at the time. I've sent it in once for service. They turned it around in 24 hours, called me, emailed me, added the most amazing firmware upgrades for nothing. That's what you pay for.

I read this Carrion (picked over animal) saga all the time and it's sad. I'm sure the picture is great but the wait and lack of any real service along with the goofiest design element on a monitor - in/outputs sticking out the top (makin the profile resemble "Sideshow" Bob") makes me wonder.

I say get your money back and run.

My Carrion monitor suddenly died. I sent it to Luis five weeks ago. Not a word from him since then.. He's been famously hard to get in touch with ever since the launch of the Carrion, but now he seems to have totally disappeared.
I agree with Tim Naylor above. Now I very much regret I didn't go for a Nebtek monitor or saved some money for a Panasonic.

I'm sure Luis started this project mostly for the fun of it, in a community/DIY spirit. People say he's got a well paid day job so it's not for the money (maybe that's the problem, like orangesaybananas said above). It can't be so much fun now, when so many people are disappointed and angry. Myself, I wouldn't sleep at night out of stress. If I was Luis I would immediately stop accepting new orders and try to discontinue the Carrion project in a graceful way.

i am sharing same thoughts here
