The best of DVXUSER

Hey you guys, as an aspiring cinematographer and long time photographer, I would like to start an interesting an enlightening thread.

Who do you consider the best cinematographers on DVXUSER.COM, based on examples of their work, their knowledge and input on these boards, ect?

I'd like to check out their work.

Here's a good little chance for us all to nominate and celebrate eachother.

Good idea on paper. Not so much in reality. Much like communism.

People's work is a sensitive issue. Best bet is going through the forum and looking at work that way. And there is some amazing stuff there.

Absolutely, and lots of intelligent DP's with a lot of knowledge. I wouldn't dare start discussing "who is better than who." People come here to learn, not to compete.

Including all those who have already replied... :) I would (like to say that I) consider (in absolutely no particular order) Timur Civan, Drew Ott, UsLatin, Andrew Brinkhaus, Vincent Pascoe, Ryan Brown, Ryan Walters, and D. Carstens as very good, contributing/knowledgable, or promising DP's on these boards. There are, of course, many many more of whom I did not mention. Some speak up less then others, some post and move on, some are director/DPs who I left out because of which... who knows. My suggestions were people I like to see/hear from AND contribute on a fairly consistant basis. I think Vincent Pascoe (although absent as of late... err months) has left the biggest impression on my mind in the last two years for his fantastic work with the HVX/M2 setup, my common choice when not shooting film or high end HD. He was an inspiration when I was just starting to shoot on RedRock and HVX. He has simply mastered the format.

Those were just people I like seeing their work off the top of my head. I am sure there are many others I can't simply recall at this moment, which is the negative side of this thread: forgetting to mention an obvious and deserving person. If I left you off, and you feel that way... You probably did deserve to be mentioned. :)

DVXuser has people of all skill sets and some with multiple. Everyone has something to teach you. Take my suggestions as simply people I like to check out. There are so many others, you don't have to wonder why I come back multiple times a day.

I've enjoyed some of Mark Harris' stuff, to the point of seeking it out and iPoding it. LOL. I've seen Brandon Rice's trailer for NGL and Adam's trailer for Corrado, I liked that stuff. DCCowan's Oversold trailer (I'm assuming he shot that or Sumo Jack), that looked really good and makes me want to buy the Canon A1 and shoot everything at night :) .

i like dvpixl's work too. he's always been a personal fav of mine during the dvxfests.

I'm a big fan of Andrew Brinkhaus' work. I also enjoy Ryan O'hara and Timur Cican's posts.

Good thread idea I think!
