SGblade Beta Tester Reviews & Feedback’

Curious question... are the lens mounts compatible with Letus?

Mostly... I have an extra PL mount and I'll keep it if it can be used on the Blade...

Just thought I'd ask before it hit's the Gear For Sale page.

Hey Wayne,

Any idea when the new OCT 19 mount will be available for the Blade? As much as I'm interested in upgrading from my SGPro the Blade won't be much use to me without the mount.

Thanks,

Ian

here's a bit of a teaser for you guys.....

EOS mount + sgblade + Lseries lenses = sexy.....

chromatic aberration

chromatic aberration

Hi Wayne, I can't believe you are getting chromatic aberration in a protuct like this!

Remember this?

" Nice. You are however getting a huge amount of chroma aberration towards the edges. What are you using in your optical path? "

You can use the free CACORRECT plugin!!!

Regards.

Supposedly the updated achromat will eliminate the CA. CA correction can minimize the effects, but I would never want that to be part of my workflow.

the CA isnt too bad....

in the real world style stuff i shot tonight, i didnt even notice it.

im going to reshoot this footage on i suppose friday as i have been shooting alll week. i havent had much time to really work with the blade.

Hi Ian, we are working on the new PL mount first, hopefully we can get this released in January. We may well be able to push the new OCT-19 mount for end of Jan/Early Feb.

Supposedly the updated achromat will eliminate the CA.

Certainly will :)

Hey Wayne, a question....is it possible to marry the sg blade spinning unit with the letus economy flip (i bet it isn`t) ?

So Wayne...the "interchangeable g g" thing, do you mean that you`ll be sending both glasses out with each blade you sell for the customer to change themselves...or...?

Hi,

The customer chooses which 'ROTOrazor' disk element they would like installed into their Blade upon order.

They can also choose to have other option(s) shipped with their order if they wish to interchange between them, or choose to purchase another option(s) at a later date.

It is fairly easy...

The new case design (as apposed to the Beta design) allowed us this option. We ruled out early on for having the interchangeable 'mechanics', if you like, at the connection point of the disk spindle to motor shaft. Doing this would introduce too many tolerance issues and cause the disks to spin out of 'true'.

Instead, the interchangeable ROTOrazor assembly consist of the motor, spindle & GG disk element installed into 'lid' of the case.

Interchanging the elements involves loosening 3 screws to remove the case from the lid, 4 screws to remove the front tube from the lid, and unplugging the motor from the electronics...

More info on this to follow :)

but the question is; who would would want to sacrifice the beautiful SGpro texture and bokeh for a measly half a stop?! :D

i think it's safe to say that 90% of the experienced/knowledgeable DP's here would chose beautiful texture and bokeh over light loss... so if you're offering a less diffuse option to cover more bases, why not a more diffuse one for us bokeh junkies?!!?

i'm sure people would love a more diffuse option for out door work. similar to the original m2 screen. sure it'd come at the price of sharpness but it'd be awesome for sunny exteriors!

Hi Patrick,

You commented on something similar over at the shoot35 forum a while ago, but you do seem to be the minority. I must admit, I am with you in that I personally prefer the SGpro's GG look and bokeh rendition.

We have never really had anyone requesting a GG with better bokeh than the SGpro's GG (now called ROTOrazor 2) neither anyone asking for more light loss, certainly.

What we have had over the last 2 years are emails in the 000's from users requesting a GG with less light loss and less grain.

Therefore we are offering both as a choice, and you can purchase both if need be...
