SGblade Beta Tester Reviews & Feedback’

What's strange is that the edge's of the frame are actually sharper than my LEX, but the rest of the image is slightly softer compared to the LEX.

We will know about the new achromat within the next little while.

But what we can estimate is that it will be stronger than the current beta one, which brings it sharper than the LEX, as well as allowing you to maintain focus on the GG throughout the camera's zoom range. Not to mention getting rid of the slight chromatic aberration.

wayne,

from papa's video, it looks like the blade might have a larger motor than the sgpro... will the blade motor and internal battery get a higher rpm than the sgpro?

PaPa,

It looks from your vimeo post that the GG is mounted on the motor axle itself and not using the pulley system in the letus.

I find this comforting. Im apprehensive of the wear and tear on the band in the pulley set up. This also lessens the number of moving parts for maintenance in the blade.

I think this is also one reason for a silent operation.

Thanks for posting your findings.

Ted

Thanks for your posts, guys!

Yes, its the same motor as used in the SGpro.

Regarding the CA, we did not get our newly redesigned flip module and achromats in before we sent the Beta Blades, samples arrive on the 15th December. The production Blades will ofcourse ship with the new flip module if purchased.

Please judge the Blades GG properties for lightloss, bokeh and grain rather than CA or e to e at this point.

Having said that, both Leonard Levy and Anders Nettli have been provided with non flip tubes, which has the lastest non flipped achromat installed.

Hey Wayne.....any er........(shuffles feet)....idea about the errr......(looks away) errrr....price yet? (he asked gently)

hehe, I know we have made you wait long enough, but just a little longer, please:D

We are sorting out the Blades ordering page now along with some other changes to the website. We will be getting this online soon, especially since the SGpro ordering system has now been taken down.

We promise that the prices will be great :) Did I mention free shipping, did I mention interchangeable GG's?

hi,Wayne
Accounting term of My company is November.
I want order SGbalade or SGpro before the month is out.
When can I order?

any of this testing being done with the hv20? I would like to see how edge fall off and sharpness is on our cams. I know it's not a big boy camera, but us little guys still do go crazy for these adapter thingys.

good question. will this support the hv20/30? without the vignetting? cuz sometimes you just wanna work with something smaller...lighter. and supposedly the blade is just that. smaller...lighter. i remember you saying it was designed to be used without rails although it probably wouldn't be the best way to go. but possible nonetheless.

Wayne, will be the flip module different? we cannot upgrade our sgpro to blade with our current flip?

Let me set aside any confusion.

The SGblade and the flip module are seperate products in their own right. You can ofcourse use your current flip module with the Blade, we designed it this way.

We are however, about to update the flip module (bigger prism aperture) and its achromat. The aim of this update is to reduce CA and also to solve the vignetting issues that has plagued EX1 users in the past.

Note that this is an update to the flip module, not the Blade itself.

It will function with the HV20/30 in the same manner as with the SGpro.
