who here knows about trucks

i would be very wary. that truck is worth thousands more than that. take a look at nada and kelley blue book to see what i'm talking about. if it's legit, then it's a deal of a lifetime, but i don't see any reason someone would sell it for so much below its value unless there is something sketchy going on.

Iv been talking to the guy and he gave some whole story about how hes in the army and has no use for it. Hes in maryland and for some reason posting on Philly craigslist but is willing to ship it... Kelly blue book says its about 15-20k which surprised me.

another red flag. what rational person decides to advertise it in another state instead of selling it in the area he lives?

Strange thing is, I've seen a lot of car, truck and rv scams lately where the "sellers" have the items listed for between $5500 and $6000. Perhaps there's some kind of cutoff amount at which point a scam becomes a more serious felony?

Either way, I'd run and hide from this one.

There are a few options here:

1) Because of the recent gas crunch and subsequent plummet of truck/SUV sales, he can't get any more for it.

2) He is trying to scam your ass.

I would go with the latter because my answer to the former would be to trade it in at the dealership. Definitely wear a cup if you go into this situation...

i'm convinced it's a scam. but if you want to look into it further, ask for the VIN number and get a vehicle history report.

I did forget to mention that the first response I got from him included more pictures an a VIN number. His story for selling it is that he just got a divorce and its his wifes truck that he owned and hes getting deployed to iraq. So far it seems like I have nothing to lose. I am going to do some investigation into the whole ebay motor protection or whatever it is. Thats how he wants to do it. He told me he would ship it out let me get it inspected and if I liked it confirm with ebay and they would pay him or if I didnt like it send it back and ebay would put my money back on the card.

Does he have history on eBay? Don't count on any protection from ebay...they'll just make you life hell.

Check the vin number...heck, ask him to pay for it! See if he'd be willing to take it to a garage to get it checked over and send you the report.
