0.55x Fisheye Adapter or 0.6x Wide Angle Adapter

dont know what camera your planning putting it on but...if its an EX1, i would use caution as far as the 0.6x is concerned. i have absolute edge vignetting on my EX1. bad enough that it would only be acceptable for a skateboard video if you know what i mean. i believe i have read that some EX1 users dont have this problem though, so go figure.

i used the 0.6x on my DVX100a and it was perfect. i found edge to edge sharpenss very good overall. i also had a 1.6x Century tele for my DVX and it also did a great job with no light loss or any sense of sharpness lost.

i guess if you buy it from B&H you could always return it if it didnt work out. i would have returned mine but i had for awhile before i even tried it out on my EX1.

good luck

I have an HVX, but vignetting is a very big no no for me too, but on the reviews on B&H one person said it didnt have any.

Also, i dont like the fisheye look that much, im just looking for a wider angle so im guessing id better go with the .6? It seems like the .55x is much different fromt he .6 and is made to be fishy, which i dont like.

I just bought the .06 WA for my HPX170. No vignetting and it has a wider stock lens than the EX1. While I like the fisheye, I feel that it is not nearly as versatile as the WA, its too extreme and is really a one trick pony, whereas the WA is useful in all sorts of situations and does not look so extreme as to not be useful for "normal" shoots.

To me, the Fisheye is realy only useful for extreme sports where it is considered "normal" but the WA is useful for anything. The look may be useful for what you are doing but do you only shoot sports or do you shoot other stuff?

Just my take on it.
