Well, it's all subjective ultimately, but one thing about POLTERGIEST, it had a great scene with a great line that still has a presence in pop culture. Ready? on the count of three...

"THEY'RE HE'EEERE..."

Poltergeist actually had a good story, even if it had some of that 80's cheese. The following sequels got a little weaker as they went, but it still followed a decent story. My only problem with it was, it had nothing to do with poltergeists, just malevolent entities.

I found "The Others" rather dull and obvious.

WTF ? The Other's is one of the finer horror ghost films ever made.

GHOST with Demi Moore is first rate. Oscar winning screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin.
Best Picture nominee.

Agreed' great film.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Poltergeist.

Agreed.

Poltergeist sucks. :) you guys have seen it within the last two decades, right?

Lay off the crack Zak !

the frightners only pj movie i like.

Agreed on film, but the only film you like ? You didn't see Heavenly Creatures I presume ?

What Lies Beneath

Beetlejuice

The Shining

Amityville Horror

The Fog

heavenly creatures is good. Just if i were to pick a film out of all the films from him that i watch over and over it's frightners but I'm a HUGE MJF fan plus the story is pretty awesome.

i mean they are well made just after the first one i was like "are we there yet?"

Technical amazing. just repetitive story and scene Like I think I've seen this scene 100 times.

Ju-on (the Grudge) 1 & 2, Gin Gwai (The Eye), Kairo (Pulse)... pretty much any Asian horror/ghost movie that has been remade for the US...

I just don't get when people say they didn't like the ending of the first LOTR's film. I mean it was true to the book series...yet....Peter Jackson still ended his first film on an optimistic note...they had gone as far as they could go and more adventures were yet to come. It was very satisfying.

Ghost films...Ghost Dad with Bill Cosby.

As already mentioned, I have to vote for the original "The Haunting". An incredibly clever plot and twist, and absolutely terrifying.
