Canon user thread - post your pictures here

I love that first one Timur, the blue scarf has a nice pop from all the neutral tones.
Your pics are coming up uncalibrated in the color profile, so they look different on different browsers, check and make sure your raw converter is converting to SRGB, and that your photo editor (Photoshop?) is set to SRGB as well. The colors look quite a bit different in PS than they do on DVXUser. Just a thought.

I found an abandoned Pit Bull puppy, probably about 3 or 4 months old. She was only with me for 12 hours, but she changed my life. Not really, but it was a cute little bugger. I brought her to the police station, one of the officers is keeping her if she's not claimed. Canon 5D and the ridiculously sharp and inexpensive Tamron 28-75.

really? they look good on my monitor.... regardless of browser...
The reason I mention it is because someone mentioned it to me about my raw pics. I noticed that in Adobe Camera Raw, it was set for RGB. I just changed the setting at the bottom of ACR to SRGB. It's not a huge difference, but when I view your pic, it looks a little unsaturated in my browser (IE). But looks punchier in Photoshop. I should add it looks good either way, and the difference is slight, but there is a difference between my browser and PS.

I agree with you US latin. In fact I already played with the lighting tons in photoshop to make the inside of the palms lighter than the outside of the hands. The problem is that there were shadows on the hands so to make it all uniform would be a little too painstaking for what my job is paying me...plus I don't think they care ot pay me to be so specific.

I don't mean to try and tell you your stuff, but this took about 5 mins to do in photoshop. A simple Levels Adjustment Layer set to Multiply, and using its Layer Mask to pain in the effect.

You can simply swap out the Adjustment layer and put it in the .psd of your original photo.

That looks really cool Matt, but I am talking about an exact replica of the blown out regions to all of the interior of the hands which could be much more of a pain in the arse with some cutting and careful tweaking necessary.

It would be the same. Just copy the adjustment layer, fill it completely black, define the areas you want via magnetic lasso, add a feather, and fill to your liking.

The beauty of it is you can paint for minutes or hours depending on how invisible you want the seam to be.

Also, the more I look at that area, you would do well to lighten the shadows on the thumb to match the part you are talking about. Exactly the same method, just push the gamma and white point the other way. the interior of the thumb there would be very bright.

Or, you can mix and match.

because when all else fails, blow out the highs!

Now you get what I am saying. Nice quick work mang! I'd like to see you finish it to see how long it would take ya.

I've never used the magnetic lasso yet... and never really use adjustment layers either other than for gradients. I am stuck in the dark ages bro! Cutting areas and adjusting them one by one... much like the old days of real paint and real brushes, lol... what do you mean by painting it? Or filling it? I need a tutorial for this mang! I can do anything I want but I DON'T work fast all the time... well I really do, I am quick! But my methods don't take advantage of all the bells and whistles in PS...

I see what your saying in terms of technique although I still insist that it would take more work to look totally natural than they want me to do on something like this (the second psd you posted doesn't look right to me). Considering people are going to be staring at this on 22inch screens I need it to looks totally natural with no signs of photoshoping (aside from the fact that there is an illuminated lightbulb in someones hand). The way I created the original is by doing a manual HDR with masks. If I were to keep going I would continue with this same method, blow out the hand and paint in the mask with a feather.

I didn't mention it so its not your fault but I would appreciate it if those last two images I posted were not played with. The company I work for is very particular with having their images rights managed and kept internally (for good reason) I shouldn't have really posted the pictures to begin with but please no more playing with it. Thank you.

Very cool, love it!

I bet hardly anyone will notice what we did and it is a beautiful poster man!

Perhaps if you are not limited by a specific aspect I'd cut off a bit of the bottom arm to make them equal in length and though I can't figure out how to do it it would be nice to find a way to get the text a bit bigger while retaining the balance you got out of this one.

Do you want me to delete the picture I posted? I'd be glad to, just let me know.

Yes, please delete it if its not too much trouble...it would ease my mind a little.

In terms of the arm being longer...I know!...Unfortunatly when I took the picture of that arm I cut off a little too much. I would normally crop the pic on the left but it need to fit on a 16:10 monitor which would require the hands to either be too close to the top and bottom or too close to eachother. I think the layout works like this though even if its not perfect.

at 1280x800 the text is an ok size, although I agree its small here.

Thank you.

No problem man... done! Sorry for the trouble.

What about adding a nice gradient fade to black making it look as if only a short portion of the wrist is exposed and it quickly falls off to black? That could allow you to have them floating... though it might make it look one measure too much of creepiness.

If you are doing it for a company, what about their logo on the top left corner to balance it out a bit? Probably not a good idea either...

Just one more suggestion... the bottom hand might benefit a little from a slight darker rim on the bottom side... not sure if it is my LCD but it might look a bit to cut out. Not a big deal at all of course as I have been analyzing it and I bet almost nobody would notice this.

Again, nice concept, and the more I look at it the more I like it.

Alwayslearning right, a blue LED is exactly what it is.

Just want to be safe and make sure you knew that I was just being silly about that? I meant it as a joke like folks would be eating LED's these days or something .... Just wanted to be sure you knew I didn't mean it was an attempt on your part to make some cheesey effect.

LEDs are part of the future man... have you seen one of those color shifting on-camera lights with 5600 and 3200 presets, and the intensity control... Hue control?!? LEDs are cool in my book... too bad those bad boys are so expensive and not all that bright at max :)

Yes, I understood it was a joke but I would have prefered if it was a different color temparature.

Well, blue spots and joking aside, that pie looked like something I could pick up and eat. VERY good detail in there and the color of that thing is perfect.
