Need a VFX artist for Next Fest.

I need a few VFX pieces for my Lossfest Film. I would need a few navigation type images placed on a laptop screen and a PDA, a Steel prison door that is blown off its hinges, and some slo-mo shattering glass as the main character walks through it. (similar to a shot in constantine without as much detail) Please PM for more info. compensation will be provided. :dankk2:

all you described is best suited for special effects instead, while it's easily doable, it wont look good if done totally in ae, it's best to do special effects and fine tune it in ae.

The exploding glass will need a good VFX guy to pull off, if you can get him to do it on the cheap.

This stuff is pretty hard if you want the high end look. I know guys here now that can do it blindfolded but unless your talking thousands of dollars they wont even acknowlede it.

Took me awhile to understand that. If you can find a guy to do it for credit, and is quality stuff, go for it. But don't expect the high end VFX that were all accustomed to seeing in the movies to come for free. It's very hard, expensive, and sometimes, underated, work.

I know it won't be Super High end. I have no problem paying someone who can do a decent job. Not thousands of dollars though. can't afford that. I would be happy with the low end of the spectrum. I am pretty good with AE but I would rather have someone else do it. I guess my main issue is that I really don't know how to shoot for shots I need. Do greenscreen the door and the computer screens? that is the first hurdle. Thanks for the input.

you'll still need to shoot for the vfx, to make it look good, or decent enough.

as for the monitors, you wont green screen, either make a video and play it on the monitor, or make a simple program that runs whatever part you want it to and shoot that, to make it look realistic, applying a screen on a monitor would make a cheaper looking effect, either way you wont need a green screen.

just shoot with the monitor off, and take a few seconds with a full screen white on the monitor for reference after the shoot.

You can use 3d layers set as displacement maps in AE, or you can have a 3D artist create a quick hard body dynamics for the explosion. Then render with slpha, and either use just the alpha, or the chunks with is to drive a Compound Blur and Displacement Map in AE. Either way will work.

Imagine something like this, but with jagged pieces, and a hell of a lot more.

Very cool. That makes sense.
Some of this I could do myself with the help of some tutorials.

Matt, I have no idea what any of this means. LOL. There are some things you just need to pay someone to do.

Hmm, i could do the shots for you, but i'd need more info or a storyboard to work from, pm me to discuss this if you're interested.
