The Olympus E-system thread

Thanks:) ISO was 200 1/800 F5.6 A/F 70-300mm Ambient light. These flies have a pattern...Zig...Zag...Zig...Etc...Hover for maybe three seconds and repeat. If the autofocus doesn't lock on it goes hunting and you're now one, maybe two flycycles until your next attempt. Hard suckers to shoot!

Actually I was at 300mm with an Olympus E-3:)

Actually I was at 300mm

Holy smokes Batman!

And wow man, I totally didn't know that the Olympus had a swivel screen! I LOVE those...

aww.... you have a smaller sensor in those... 17.3 mm (H) x 13.0 mm (V), I thought you were the McDaddy of focus :) well a freaggin' fly at 300mm is still insane by ANY standards

The articulating screen is cool at times as is the weatherproofing but my favorite feature is the divining switch. If that's turned on, you just drape the camera around your neck and follow whichever way the lens points. When the camera makes a beeping sound you don't even have to look through the viewfinder, just press the shutter release and there's a perfectly focused and composed shot!

Just Kidding, I love my E-3 so much I sometimes overextend its capabilities. I'm really looking forward to working with the remote flash system but haven't had the time of late.:)

Hehe... I was flipping out haha.. AI?!?! Lol... next thing it also pours you a cup of coffee to keep you focused. hehe...

Thanks Rick, I just wish the shadow had been all in.

messin around with the remote flash as I've got a gig coming up and I don't know diddly 'bout lighting interiors. I shot my setup a gazillion times and was reasonably happy with this rendition though there's clearly a boatload of practice left to do:)

Mino-

Ironically, though you are using a remote flash and the lighting looks great, on my laptop it looks a teeny tiny tad soft. Or, not quite as crystal clear as some of your other stuff....is it me?

It is a tad soft, maybe cos I'm shooting at 1/60 hand held? Could be the 5.6 too I guess.

Aside from that, here's a behind the scenes/desk! I do know what the cables do but the thought of tearing it apart to cable neatly freaks me out because I can't really believe I'll know how to patch it again....:) Does your behind the desk look as sloppy as this?

holy crap.

actually mine looks pretty bad but not nearly as bad as that. one spark and you my friend are toast.:D

when i move or take my stuff apart I don't think i will be able to patch it together either...then somehow it all comes together.

they need a cable organizer...a way to keep the cables and cords neat and separated. thats got to be out there.

The cream colored power cord going into the wall middle left breaks out into six other power strips. In total there are around 40 devices pulling from that cord. Of course not all those devices are on at one time. Not only that but that wall socket is on the same breaker as the rest of the apartment. When we first moved in I had all crt monitors and televisions and we were popping breakers all the time. Summer is the bad time because when it gets hot we like to turn on fans so I have to think before turning stuff on. The mess comes from adding and subtracting or moving devices. Smartest thing I did was leave two feet access behind the desk area. Last place we lived I just didn't have the room so getting at cables was bad for blood pressure. I'm going to totally pull everything out over the holidays and somehow get it organized back there before the "spark" comes:)

Hey Mino, I think you need AT LEAST two more monitors! :)

About a year ago I put my entire set up on one breaker. I did it with a plug though so that I can disconnect everything with one plug when there are any severe thunderstorms.

Larry

p.s. Ya, the back of my set up looks sorta similar. What fun would it be if it weren't? :)

Hey Mino, I think you need AT LEAST two more monitors! :)

Yep...I have two on order...Should be here next week:)

Seriously though... The two on the outside were replaced by the two on the desk last week and of course they will handle the signal from the other two. It was an experiment to have separate monitors for my second system which I barely use. My GF thinks it looks cool but I feel too much like Gene Kranz when I'm working and find myself muttering "Give me a go-no go for launch". The second system is my old P4 which I keep in case the quad goes down mid project.
