"Wages of Sin" problem becoming annoying

As you all know I completed my second film "Wages of Sin" last year. This was a B-grade martial art film along the lines of some of the black-plotation films of back in the day, only updated. It was a lot of fun to make and we even sale a few copies now and then at certain events.

Anyway when we first did the IMDB listing everything was fine. One day I look at my IMDB and a bunch of people I didn't even know were listed as being in my film. Now this was a shock to me as I figured how is this possible. These people don't know whose in their film or whose directing it? My info was already there and had been there for awhile. I immediately wrote IMDB help and told them these were not my cast and that someone was jacking my listing. Eventually everything got cleared up.

Flash-forward - Present 2008
"Wages of Sin" obviously got distributed, the only problem is in so many of the listings I'm in listed as director. It has gotten to the point of people listing my cast as the cast of the horror film when I have yet to even do a horror film. I'm sending a note of to these guys right now. I'm not mad, really but highly annoyed.

Nate, I had a terrible problem with the IMDB listing for 'Tangled Web'. In a bizarre coincidence, another guy was submitting HIS short film of the same title. (Mine's a feature.) Making matters worse was the fact that we had eeriely similar plot descriptions. So he and his people kept showing up on the listing for MY movie. I'd remove them, he'd add them back.

I tracked him down and sent him an email asking him to stop doing that, and to create his own entry. We got IMDB involved. I gave them the info for my people, and they split the one entry into two. Unfortunately, even though MY entry existed FIRST on IMDB, I wound up with the one that had "/II" after it. But there's been no problem since.

Good luck with it!

Thanks. I sent a letter to the distributor early this morning. I don't know if they got it or what but I let them know I wanted them to send letters to everyone selling their film.

Nate, I have the same problem. My short film "Revolver" shares it's name with another short film registered around the same time and IMDB combined SOME of our credits. And theres even a link to the trailer to the Guy Ritchie movie, Revolver. Wtf!!!

That may work out better for you. LOL. I am totally bummed though. The next film I'm planning on naming it something totally original "Nephilim". When I did an IMDB search there was no film called that. Today I search IMDB and I get this BS http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1243946/ I don't know if I believe in the idea of a bunch of creative energies running around at the same time but I'm starting to get pissed. Is everyone one and their freakin' momma doing an angelic action film now? If someone else pops up with another name in the same time I'm going to snap off!

My first film "The 4th Beast" was plagued because I specifically wrote the title as "The 4th Beast: Mask of the Antichrist" using the number 4 and the subtitle. The distributor named it simply "The Fourth Beast" which will bring up tons of Endtime based sites before ever getting to the film itself. (Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know). But either way to this day if you google "The 4th Beast" my film comes up on the first page usually as the first or second entry. (Ironically it's actually the first three entry's if you use Isara's google search). Today if you google "The Fourth Beast" the film comes up but for the first few years it simply was buried because they changed the title. I changed it back on IMDB.

Edit:

OMG! I am completely pissed! I wish I new these guys because I would sue! But since I don't and I haven't told anyone about my film (and haven't even wrote the script yet) I can't. This is the exact same plot of my film. At least overall. My film was about a man who was part angel and part human hunting down others like him who had chose to work for Satan and who wanted to merge hell and earth and force humans to choose Satan. To assure that humans will always have free will (the right to choose good or evil) God had assigned this Nephilim to hunt down any of those who chose to serve Satan do any harm to the humans. While this new film isn't exactly the same the premise is overall the same: protecting free will. A concept I didn't even think anyone thought about. I'm going to find out who these guys are because I'm totally curious. The part that really irks me is my original idea did involve a vampire (a opposed to a spirit) and a fallen Angel.

Edit 2
Okay, the guy grew up Catholic and grew up with Bible stories and yadda yadda yadda. But why now? Sheesh.

Nathyn,

I'm the co-creator of this story, and "free will" is only a fraction of the concepts contained in this story idea. The "Nephilim" in the Bible are always used in a negative context, so they are the antagonists of the story. The story is biblical-fantasy, but is actually based on years of theological thinking.

The story was originally motivated by the thought of how Lucifer might go about incarnating himself into human form for his final act of rebellion against God. This is were the Nephilim come into play.
