(This is sort of a ridiculous picture of me)

I just worked on a shoot last week as an electric and got to use this baby. 100,000 watts of sheer power.

Just thought everyone should see this, because you know, why not? It's awesome.

As a side note, even across the street and inside of a building it was shooting into, it was ridiculously hot. I was comfortably wearing 3 layers outside and inside on the other side of the building, but had to go down to a T-shirt when I went into that room. It was a bit scary watching it sway a little bit on the condor that we had, especially in the rain, but by some strange miracle, we all made it out alive.

WOW, I want one of those! (even though I would need a nuclear station near my house to power it.....)
amd I thought my 1000 pars were hot......

That bulb must cost a fortune!!!

Ryan:

What kind of light is that? Is that a Dino or a Maxi Brute? The biggest I have ever used are 24ks and this looks like quite a bit more.

It was the 100k soft sun.

I wish I had some exterior shots of the light working, but I wasn't able to get behind it much and in front just wasn't working as you might as well expect.

Anyone can clearly see that's you next to a Tota after somebody blasted you with a shrink ray.

*thanks for the pic, yes that's awesome.

Mmm.... that's nice. Does it run off of a stinger? (joke)

The largest lights I've seen were two 18k HMI PARs that were about 80ft high in a condor... but unfortunately I wasn't allowed in any condor (under 18 and was interning).

How do they actually power a 100k though?

We ran banded directly from a generator into the ballast. The ballast was the size of a small, yet very heavy, filing cabinet. We did have a dedicated generator for the 100k though, then ran the rest of our power off of another one that we distributed through other means...
