Remote follow focus for £150/$300

Its not as loud as that in reality. Im working on some rubbery suspension for the motor, as the sturdyness of the mount transfers vibrations to the camera which makes it louder.

This is the one drawback, but when I release price info, I think most people will agree the slight hum of the motor is acceptable.

Flat AA batteries. Ive got the RX on my steadicam right now and its much faster.

Also I just cut the nosie of the motor down quite a bit by putting rubber dampers under the servo.

Just curious why you made the gear wheel so large? Seems like it would just take up space and have a greater chance of snagging on stuff and snapping off.

It has to be that large otherwise the motor would not be able to turn the whole lens. its not like the preston or bartech style motors that can turn infinatly, the motor can only turn a set amount, so the large wheel is there to maximise the lens barrel movement.

Quick update,

Had a meeting with Wayne and Glenn of Shoot35 today. Looks like the Hocus Focus will be distributed by them. Wayne also offered some constructive critism, and I think after some tinkering over the next few days, the HoFo will be drastically improved.

I have also replaced the Mini DIN with a mini XLR (like those on RED) which locks, is much easier to locate and its just better in every way.

We are close now, just working on a new knob.

By the way, the Blade is excellent. Very nicely built and designed, absolutely silent and has a party trick that I did not expect. Can't wait to get mine....

Pete.

Thanks for dropping in yesterday, Pete.

I must say I was impressed with the Hocus Focus, the unit is accurate and extremely responsive which is absolutely necessary. It hit focus marks every time without creeping and you can also set the lens end limits or use this feature for setting start and finish focus points.

We are collaborating with Pete on the finishing but to be honest it seems 99% there. Good stuff!

thanks alot for this good work, i am inquisitive for the price and availability,
hope you will release it before christmas!!
thx and looking forward for this

By the way, heres the new motor connection. Mini XLR latching.

Wrong screws in this photo but you get the idea...
