Loss of Hope (Short Film shot with Letus35mm Adapter)

Nikon 20mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 is what we shot it on. We used a DVX100 and added 2:35:1 bars in Post.

wow that was very impressive. I really enjoyed the story and the acting. Was there color correction done?
Thanks and I would like to see more of your work

No color correction done honestly. I had to actually take bring down the levels of saturation on some shots ha. I white balanced on light blue which gave it a warmer color. So doing it in camera helped any post production color correction, but I do not suggest people do that and I notice reds and oranges "bleed" on the LCD screen.

My site is www.ScottGoldbergMovies.com . Thanks for the kind words.

Wow! It almost felt like Malick's Thin Red Line. I really like the mood. The crane shots are really interesting. Acting and cinematography are great!

I would have liked to see more wide shots, though. Especially on the narrator. There's a slight claustrophobic feel not seeing more of his surrounding. But maybe you wanted it that way?

That's a huge compliment saying it reminded you on Thin Red Line. I have not yet seen the film but just watched the trailer and have heard a lot about Malick and the films he has made. I will keep the 20mm lens in mind for the next production which may be a super short horror film this weekend in the woods which will give us a wide variety of space to use different lenses. Thanks for the interest in the production.

For exterior sequences, no lights.

For the interior of the man in the basment, an ARRI 1K against the wall as well as a Kino Flo Tube Fixture hovering above him and the table. Same with the shot of the daughter and mother laughing inside towards the end of the film.

The scene in the bedroom of Paul putting on his shirt was shot with the windows opened in June, and an ARRI 650 K on full blast shot up towards the cieling. Same with the shower scene.

I can't view it, I get this: "If you are not in SOUTH AFRICA or you think you have received this message in error, please report the issue below."

I'm in South Africa, so could you please post in on vimeo?

thanks,
Derrick

http://vimeo.com/2147972 Much less quality than VeOh and since it's a HD site and the film was shot in SD, the quality is lost a bit, but there you go. Enjoy!

Nicely done. Good shots, the look was gerat. I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the kind words. Shooting some new footage tomorrow for some PSA type announcements that have to do with society, Elections and politics. Should have something up by next weekend.

Just shot some scenes for a new film currently titled, and subject to change since it's a working title, "Mr. Mullen" this week about a man who goes insane due to corrupt policies of a local Mayor that drives him to the edge.

Would love to hear some more feedback from those who just saw Loss of Hope.

Really enjoyed the piece and the music was excellent, it carried through with your ideas. I was fascinated by the lead and just watching him and listening to him tell the story, kept me connected and sometimes I wish you had not cut away because he was so touching. Congrats.
