Incomplete P2 FCP Transfer probelm.

Hello,

I have incomplete P2 footage, mostly all video ".MXF" files from a copy and paste transfer to my external drive. Does anyone know of a method that will allow me to salvage my footage (.MXF) even though I do not have the audio tracks? FCP doesn't seem to recognize the files. Although I do not have the Audio,Proxy, Icon;etc, I should still be able to retain the footage...is this doable? :huh:

Any help with this is much appreciated! :dankk2:

Raylight from www.dvfilm.com should do it. You also should be able to directly drag the files to your timeline if you install Panasonic's P2CMS program. Or Avid can do it.

And next time...don't COPY/PASTE or drag on the finder level. That is prone with issues, as you have discovered. Either use P2CMS to do this, or invest in SHOTPUT P2 from imagineproducts.com and have them copy the files. Not sure about P2CMS, but SHoTPUT P2 will do a file verification as it copies, to make sure things actually copy properly.

Raylight is the cheapest way to get this footage into FCP.

I gotta change my tutorial to NOT have this finder level thing...it used to work well, but now...not so much.

Yeah, in hindsight I realize that this was a real dump idea on my part; I was strapped for time and had to return the FS-100 quickly. Hard lesson learned.

Thanks again to the prompt feedback. BTW, how secure is Shotput in terms of backing up your footage?

Yes, P2CMS also does the file verification, which is why I've been recommending it.
