Remote follow focus for £150/$300

Although having the batteries integrated would be nicer, I don't mind the batteries being external when I see the size difference. Good call on the location of the lanyard loop BTW. (not sure if it's dead center though, but I suppose that's just because this is your test unit?)

Yeah this test unit is pretty wonky now. Its hard to keep it all straight, i need to move the 9v battery compartment further up to accomodate the lanyard mount. The case company are sending me new case lids so I will re-cut proper ones and show you then.

Thanks,

Pete.

Hi Ogopogogoogosdo

You can get a splitter to power the receiver too.

Il make one and stick it in the optinal upgrades thing on the website. Theres no point using AAs if youve got accessory power available...

That'd be fantastic! It'd make my life easier :) Thanks!

Just looking at the pictures, I might suggest to rethink the antenna size for the receiver. Generally you dont want to exceed 1 inch (Like bartech, preston....etc). Also you might want to add an right angle option as well. Here is a good resource:

www.digikey.com

The part numbers are as follows:

Transmitter antenna: part no. ANT-916-CW-QW-ND

Receiver antenna: part no. ANT-916-CW-RH-ND

Receiver antenna (right angle): part no. ANT-916-CW-RCS-ND

As far as the batteries are concerned I personally would reccomend separate box as steadicam ops (which I'm guessing is a big target for you) will always opt out powering directly from the sled. I use a wireless FF on everything (for safety reasons) and power my BFD from a 4 pin Anton Bauer.

That'd be fantastic! It'd make my life easier :) Thanks!

I'm sure pete can whip you up a splitter pretty quick but incase he's tied up with HF development you can get custom cables for your sled from Jim Bartell.
I would ask pete first because Jim is a little expensive for indie.

Hi Emre,

The antennas we have are matched to the radio components that we have inside the case, and they are designed to be as efficient as possible and deliver a very clean signal. I also have a right angled antenna available, and the radio company I work with are working on an articulated antenna for the receiver unit.

Your antennas look cool, but its a threaded screw on stud, and we had considered this type, but the fact that its not removable makes it abit of a problem.

Thanks a lot though.

Quick update:

Have re-done the top and bottom pannels of the TX to reflect the final design.

Have also done the shoe mount for the receiver and tested it out. Looks very smart.

Strange you shoudl ask that.

my new coding guy (the Doctor) has now completed the board layout and has the code working on the breadboard. I will have a working prototype working by the 5th of november.

Stay tuned for videos....

yeah I can't wait to see it work finally. Lead time will be about two ish weeks. I'm thinking of doing a RED style deposit then the rest on shipment. I'm not a fan of waiting and definatly not a fan of making people wait, you've waited long enough

:-)

This is great news! Glad to hear the project is closing in on a final product.
I just completed the 2 day Steadicam workshop with Peter Abraham and had a blast. Learned more about my rig in 2 days than in 2 months. Definitely looking to get a follow focus, and can't wait for the Hocus Focus to come to play! I think I mentioned it in an earlier post, but please put me down on your list!

Hey Peter this is looking great. I'm getting ready to take the steadicam workshop with Mr Abraham and will probably be looking to get one of these at the beginning of the year. Based on your current list any clue as to how long it will be before you get to the non-listees? Saw the two week lead (which is awesome) but I didnt know if that accounted for those already in line. Congrats on some awesome work. Looking forward to these hitting the production line (as I'm sure you are too!)

Hi Jeff,

I had planned on the two week lead time being from payment, At the moment im not sure how long it would take to get to the bottom of the list. I think I can do about 10 units a week, so thats about six weeks....

Time will tell, wont be a very long time....

Oh cool, yeah I was just looking at a really rough guess. Is it too soon to say the weights of the components or is that still up in the air? Keep up the good work and keep us posted man!
