What is this piece of equipment called that I'm thinking of??

I've been on the forum/google search quest for the last hour trying to figure this out and its driving me nuts. I've seen a NON-motorized pan/tilt remote control setup before, it must have been cable actuated or hydraulic or something because the control box had two wheels with a knob on them and thick cables that looked like they manually actually controlled the pan and tilt of the head.

I'm in the market to buy something like this, I can't for the life of me stand the feel of motorized or robotic pan tilt heads because there is something that is lost in my "touch" when my hand isn't directly connected to the motions and is somehow being translated electronically.

Any ideas on what this is/called/who makes one?

that advanta-jib looks amazing, especially for how reasonable priced it is too! Thanks for your responses, this is a lot closer to what I'm thinking of but it was mounted on a beefy tripod instead. I'm going to keep searching for something that is tripod mountable but if I don't find it I have a feeling that with a little bit of ingenuity (or a lot) I could figure out a way to rig the advanta-jib head on a tripod instead of having a big jib.

What I'm looking to do with it is two things, for multicam shoots I'd like to be able to setup a camera that I can control remotely from my homemade multicam monitor rig so I can man both the intercom and my own camera at the same time, and then also be able to sit to the side when I'm interviewing someone and be able to talk to them and control the camera setup in a different position. I think if I could do this it would make my concert films infinitely more streamlined, I LOVE operating a camera so it kills me when I can't control one and call the shots or conduct an interview at the same time. Kind of the battle between wanting to be a director but still wanting to do my own shots at the same time.

What I saw rigged up looked expensive, or it could have been a really well done home-made system, but if its anywhere southwards of $5000 i could easily justify it, and if its more than that then its something that renting on some of the projects would be worth its weight in gold. I'd totally be willing to spend a few weeks worth of time trying to design and build my own if this "just doesn't really exist" lol

EDIT: PS, pmark your avatar is hilarious, lol

Sounds like it is a remote controlled geared head.
