The man complained to police when he discovered that his beloved online avatar was dead.

You know something is wrong when you call the police because an online alter-ego is dead.

I don't know about this case in particular, but...

games like second life have 'virtual' objects which have REAL monetary value. People have accounts that are linked to real bank accounts to which they can buy, barter, and trade virtual items. When these items, or even CHARACTERS, are stolen, deleted (killed), and etc.... it translates into real world theft.

You may disagree that an online representation of a sofa is worth something, but look at online poker. It's virtual and involves real money.

Very odd world we are living in.

I for one would never buy an online anything... unless it gets shipped to my door. :)

BTW: I've got a virtual HVX200 I'm selling for around $300. PM me if your interested. Also, I've got some virtual land in Florida for sale too.

Think about it.

p.s. ask about my virtual time shares.

That's a good point, Ryan. One I had not considered. And while we are talking about items for sale, I have a virtual script that I will give you for $300,000.

The real version may or may not be available in a matter of months. :)

Uga - If that's not photoshopped then it's the strangest photo ever taken. What is the story behind it? A hockey mascot protest gone bad?

:)

Robbie...you never cease to amaze me...

The only thing I regret is not getting to this before UGA. Just be glad, buddy, I would have been more harsh. :)

ConspiracyPenguin I have $300,000 in virtual $100 dollar bills that I will give you for your script.
