Zoom beyond the 35mm adapter "house"

Hey, I have some questions regarding my 35mm adapter.

I use a Canon XH-A1 and a Letus Flip Enhanced (+vibrator)

I haven't really used any other adapter so I just want some feedback on this.

I kind of have to zoom x18(optical) in order for the adapter housing to be non-visible, is this something that goes for all adapters?

This is making my handheld footage really shaky (oh yeah, I guess you shouldn't ever go hand-held, but im not old, and I cant afford any stabilization device just yet) I have a tripod but it really doesnt do well with the weight of my setup, and Im lost in a expensive jungle of tripods that will PAN and move SMOOTHLY, without recoiling and stuff.

So, can I do something to prevent this? or is there another adapter that doesn't have this kind of problem?

Is your optical image stabilization turned on? It should be turned off.

It is normal to be zoomed in a lot. However, your integrated lens's focal length should not determine whether your footage is shaky, rather the 35mm lens's focal length will.

Handheld footage is going to be shaky. It's handheld. If you are getting horribly shaky images on a 200mm handheld, that's to be expected. If you're getting horribly shaky images on a 28mm, chances are your OIS is turned on.

Im not sure what Z80 means to be honest.

I think the OIS was on, yeah.. I think im using one of those fixed lenses, not really zoomable!
I have a 50/1.4 or something like that (canon, old) and a 28/2.8 I beilieve.

If I do everything like you said, and then use the 28mm lens, that would be less shaky than the 50mm? Just curious if im correct!

You really should go into the function menu and convert the zoom display to Z values instead of 18x or whatever. Z0 means zoomed out all the way, Z99 is zoomed in all the way. What I mean is that if you have to zoom in on the A1 past Z80 (or within a few values) to clear vignetting, there's something wrong. In the high 80s, sharpness starts going to hell. Wide angle lens vignette more, but unless it's a fisheye or something like that Z80 is usually what you should expect on an adapter with wide angle (and around Z75 with longer lenses).

Well.. okay. I just don't see what I can do about it, The adapter is as tight as it can be;<

all thought there is a tilt that I forgot to mention, ill try explain with words / draw

Right now: If I zoom out to Z50, I can see that the house is like a square/rectangle, and it's lined up well, like this

|"""""""""""""""|
| .....................|
|___________|

It's not like this:

..../""""""""""/
../ ............../
/________/

Hope you understood. It's straight. HOWEVER.

It's more to the left than it should be, so I have to zoom in alot more, because it's more on the left, and less on the right. I Just assumed that was the effect that the shape of the adapter automatically gives me.

My adapter shape:

|"""""""""\______
|.........................|
""""""\________|

So I think, that if you look at my adapter, mouted to the camera from above, it looks just like what I just Illustrated. Perhaps I should twist it so that it looks like my illustration, when you look from the side? But that would give me the Tilted Housing that I Illustrated above.

Ah crap, if anyone understands this, help me out:)

If not, ill just borrow someones camera and post some pictures or something.

Sorry if the questions are wacko, but I really wanna know my adapter and oh.. well..

Thank you.

That's a common issue with adapter and varies across camera, since each camera seems to "see" the GG differently so there's a horizontal off-set. Happens on my Letus Extreme as well. Not a big deal because with the lens I use I have to zoom in beyond that point to clear vignetting anyway.

Hehe, now that's a actuall cheerup :D

Might be so, but anyway, I got what I wanted here, the OIS = off, and some facts about lenses.

However, my Letus 35mm Flip Enhanced vibrator that I forgot in "ON" mode, doesnt seem to like me anymore. Do you change battery on it? I didnt really dare to try open it up as it has cables going into the adapter it seems to be that it's a big hussle if you break it?

Didnt find any thread or google information about this so, well shooting you again!

Yup.

Have you turned off the OIS yet?

Yeah I have. It's really dark outside now, so I'll try it out tomorrow.

It never was horrible, I just want it to look smooth:) But as my vibrator just ran out of battery, (I don't even know that it runs on batteries that I can change or if it's some internal stuff) but that has to be fixed first.

Please reply if you know anything about the Letus 35 Flip Enhanced Vibrator and battery, and read my above post!

thx

Only that I bought a used Letus Adapter, and haven't ever changed them before,

HOWEVER, the problem is solved, I was just unfamiliar with the "lock", but it's all fine now, thank you@everyone who replied.
