storyboard artist ?

I am looking for a storyboard artist to help me on my second short film, 15 min psychological thriller-horror, create some storyboards (preferably with Toon Boom Storyboard software, but not a deal breaker). Hopefully cheap pay and/or for credits/experience. Anybody have any leads, know anybody who might be interested? I am going to contact a few college art departments, just looking to network and find someone.

After filming my first short film, I learned a hard lesson that more preproduction would have saved me a great deal of time, and even money paid to the actor and soundperson; I wasted several hours shooting footage that was never used. If I preplan it better, storyboard shots, I think I can shoot much more efficiently on my second short film.

Randall,

I would potentially be interested in helping out. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss it further. The caveats would be that I do not use Toon Boom, I draw my boards the old fashioned way and scan them in. Also, I live in California so you'd have to be willing to work over the phone/internet. Further details can be worked out should you choose to contact me.

I used to be an illustrator of independent comics before moving on to storyboarding and filmmaking. I haven't done boards for anyone in a long while (moved onto the set and behind the camera on the projects I've worked on the last 8 years or so), but I like the idea of helping out a fellow DVX member and it's not a feature length script.

You can get a feel for my thoughts on storyboarding and my general attitude and work process from a (rather exhaustive) post I made in a dvinfo thread on storyboarding. Please note, the board I link to in the thread was just a quick sketch done with a mouse in MS Paint, and was intended to illustrate the post, and NOT be representative of my actual professional boards. Just sayin'. ;) Real board samples available on request.

Thanks Jeff. I will likely PM you tomorrow, getting late tonight, want to crash and watch a little TV. Yeah this would be for a 15 min short film, could just be a small number of storyboards to try implementing that into my filmmaking, old fashioned boards scanned in works fine.

Randall, I would potentially be interested in helping out. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss it further....

This guy is a friend of mine. He is currently in Savannah, Ga. He works EXTREMELY FAST. He is very talented and many directors I have worked with in the past have used him with GREAT satisfaction. He is very talented.

See his work and contact him at http://www.joe-pi.com/
