The Christian film genre needs to not have "their actors" it needs to just simply have actors, good actors, suited for the roles in the film... end of story.

I'm not writing a script around some actors belief structure.

But that's his level of commitment to his wife. James Caviezel wouldn't do a scene with JLo for the same reason. We all see where that got him - oh wait, didn't James Caviezel play Jesus in a small indy Passion of the Christ? I don't think it did to well at the box office though. :)

Not following you on this one.

Why is it Christians aren't allowed to have movies we like in America 2008?

Who said you aren't? But you have to accept the fact that they may not be palatable to non-Christians, especially if the messages are very overt. Would you go see a film that pushed an overtly Muslim message?

That's the total point of this entire thread !

I think Christian filmmakers, if not only catering to their own demographic, need to rework the rules of the game to appeal to the mass market.

I agree, but aren't the rules of their game born from the rules of their religion?

I see this thread running in circles and coming to the same conclusion, like you are saying, so
I think heads will keep butting for the same reasons. I don't see this changing.

Maybe there is some understanding, though?

They just made 21,000,000, their next film better kick butt! (And they can afford new laptops now, LOL).

No doubt :)

I'll bet FIREPROOF does $35-$40 million in dvd sales. Facing the Giants is at around $25 million right now in dvd sales. Freakin unbelivable for a $100k & a $500k movie...

dvd sales are an interesting thing, when do you stop counting? i mean sales slow down, then sometimes have a reserge, I'd bet my hvx that giants had a surge in sales after fireproof came out. if they are able to pull off a film bigger than fireproof, then i'll bet at that point both Giants and FP wlll have another surge.

I wonder if left behind has had more sales?

just a thought.

"“It took us longer to figure out the workflow with the P2 cards than it did with the VariCam and Blackmagic card. On the front side I began to get real scared that we weren’t going to be able to get to the P2 footage because our technicians were having trouble dumping it out,” Kendrick admits. '

Sounds to me like they need to hire new assistants. That's ridiculous.

No doubt!

They promo'd FIREPROOF saying "From the makers of Facing the Giants" so now more people went and bought Facing the Giants on dvd.

I have heard some whisper numbers of around $70 million for FIREPROOF for theater, overseas, dvd, and future tv revenue within 5 years but where does it end?

I'll tell you where it ends, this film becomes so huge that millions of dvds are in the world, then after the nucular war, all books, images and dvds are gone except one copy of fireproof, a new world is built on the movie, everyone is named ofter the people in the films, and finally (like we all didnt see this coming) this film forms a new Religion based on it. oh wait?

They're doing something right!

:)

They did all right, they created a film with the right story, at the right time, and it was marketed the right way, to the right people. Thats how most other films do "something right."

Hey guys

Fireproof has been talked to death and closed at that. Starting more Fireproof threads goes against the lock and really ? Is there anything left to say on the film ?

No mas please.
