24F/P to slow-motion without shooting 60i/100fps

What's the best way to create fluid slow-motion from 24F/P footage, without making it strobe. I know this isn't the best option, yet sometimes you don't really have a choice of frame rates when you shoot. Especially when you decide you want to do slow-motion in post.

I know the best way to do slow-motion on a 24F/P timeline is to shoot in 60i at 100fps and then slow it down 50%. But obviously there are times when you don't have that option, especially when you're covering an event and you don't have the time to change frame rates.

Please share your work-arounds, if there are any!

ive had great results with time stretch in AE.
grant it i was shooting 60i and only slowing down 20-30%

i'll give time stretch a try...but in regards to 24fps to smooth 48fps, what are some of the things I should look out for? A couple tips might be useful.
