why does the .veg still point to old folder?

My video drive was getting full, and so was the backup, so I bought a much-needed external drive.

Anyhoo, I copied an entire folder (with ALL files, pics, and the veg file for one BIG project) to the external drive...

...yet when I open that veg file from Vegas, it still points to all the files on the older (and full) hard drive!

So why... oh never mind, who cares why it does this -- HOW DO I FIX IT? How do I get the new, copied .veg file on the new external drive to point to all the copied files in it's folder, instead of the old one? (I'm afraid to choose "move" instead of "copy" as I want the temporary backup)

thanks

I don't have Vegas in front of me right now, but you need to let Vegas know that you have moved the files. If you use Media Manager it will ask you where the files are and let you re-point, but only if it can't fine the files where they used to be. So, once you have them copied, delete them - or re-name them - at the old location. This will force Media Manager to ask you for the new location.

As long as you kept all the folders and files in the same structure, it should only be a matter of defining the new location for one media file and the rest will follow.

But if you didn't -- if you dumped everything into a single folder, for example, you'll have to do a lot more re-directing.

Thanks guys, I figured as much. I'll probably move the original folder, open Vegas, and when it looks for the old files, point it to the new folder/hard drive. (I hope it don't ask me every time I open it; I hate it when it does that!)
