hello..
i am trying to figure out about this prosres codec. i am shooting hdv with my canon xha1. i was wondering if i could gain something using the prores codec. should i edit everything in hdv or prores, or prores HQ? which one is best.? i am especially thinking about output. i have a project going on that i would like to output to blueray-disc. and hopefully later to film. i am bit puzzled about the post-production workflow and how to work effectively with big amounts of hdv material. i want to achieve best possible result when outputting, then at the same time not have to wait for loooong rendertimes when editing.
- what if i start editing all my stuff in one format and i figure it was all wrong and want to use another one? then it will be problems right?

is there any good tutorials on this? books? or any simple answers from one of you guys or gals?

hello again..
well, i have been reading some more on the prores codec and it continues to puzzle me...

i will have maybe 2-300 hours of material. and i read that 1 hour of prores is about 65 gb... thats alot... and then i will need a serious amount of giga!!

so what to do...

i want the advantages of prores but havent got the space...

if i capture in hdv and do the edit, then set the render as prores... will that be just as good...

and then output as prores, bring the final cut into compressor and to blue-raydisc....

would this yield the same result?
