And I'm a little nervous. If there's anyone out there just bursting with knowledge and wants to offer advice, I'd really appreciate it. Mistakes you've made, what you learned, etc. Thanks.
First music video shoot, didn't really know what was going on, but I can't WAIT to do another one.
Basically there wasn't a story, we just kind of improved it through out the day.
The way I'll shoot my next music video will be different, and I'll tell you how I'd do it (remember, this is how I'D do it. Not sure if it's the correct way to shoot a music video, but it'll work out)
Get your actor (singer) or band, to play the whole song and just record it all. Then get them to do it AGAIN at a different location.
I'm guessing for my next song, I'll get the singer/band to play their song at least 10 times, all at different angles. Then when you edit, you overlay them (sync them first) and you just do some cutting, then you can do some special effects if needed.
It really depends though, do you have a story in mind? If so, then follow it. Write a script, make some story board, I know I made storyboards and they helped out a lot, especially if your stressed.
The first one I did landed on my thanks to my cousin, his exgirlfriend was with a guitarrist who had just published his first album. She knew me and asked my cousin if I could do it.......
At first I was like...hmmmmm....hmmmmmm.......welll......hell,why not!!! you have the result in my sig (look at my second greenscreen project). This was my first client, so I was a bit nervous....so I wanted everything to look great and started to prep eveything two days ahead.......in the end eveything went great and they were happy with the result.
After this the second came along........this was on location in a theater room with a bit more logistic......it really was fun. (you also have it in my sig).
Enjoy the day and have fun and at the same time be serious and professional, that usually is the recipe for a great filming day (at least for me).
