SGpro r3 has been discontinued :-(

So Wayne, is there no way to get X/Y adjustment (and do we need it???) WITHOUT the flip?

Explainz to me plz. :)

The XY adjustment replaces the ring that screws onto the front of the camera (in the flip config). Before you had a ring that screws onto the camera which then mates with the front of the flip. The previous flip used to house the achromat.

The XY adjustment screws to the front of the camera and holds the achromat (abit like the screw on redrock achromat) and it has the four set screws built in. These four set screws grip the flip unit. The non-flip attaches to the camera in a totaly differnt way so this XY adjustment is not suitable for the non-flip.

In any case, XY adjustment is more important in the flipped version, as the flip unit has a built in 'window' which is off centre in most cameras. Atleast with the non flip, theres no hard shape that you have to zoom past, you have some flexibility with the projected image....

Thanks ho... lol

I wonder if I learned that some time way back and forgot since I don't use flips.

I appreciate the quick, clear and fast response! (much like Wayne's posts, to you too sir)

This may help. I think this may be the first photo of the XY adjustment thingy, theres no official ones yet. Hope its ok to post it...

Those four setscrews grip the flip unit and you can wind it around to centre the window properly.

Is that still mechanically fixed to the center of the video camera's lens, though, via the filter threads? That's the position that needs some X/Y adjustment (for when the CCD is misaligned with the lens <cough>HVX200<cough>...) Though if the glass part (it's an achromat, right?) is WAY bigger than necessary, then just X/Y tweaking the relation between it and the flip would actually be OK too.

The achromat stays centered to the camera lens, and the flip moves in relation to the lens.

The XY adjustment works fine with the old letus flip, Ive got one of the first flip units, and it works fine. You just have to remember to remove the old achromat first....

Some further information...

The $2000 or £999 GBP (now only $1700 due to the shift in the dollar rate) includes the SGblade, lens mount, flip module and new rods support - shipped.

To compare this to the SGpro with the same items comes to $1400 shipped.

So as you can see, there is only $300 difference for an adapter that has a lot more to offer. We are still working on other package prices - with and without flip module, rods support and also a package that only includes the SGblade base for customers that already have a flip module and/or rods support for example. Also, there will be a further £50 discount for current SGpro customers which is $86.

Wayne, is this £999 price point including VAT? Thanks!

I'm proud to say I've owned an SGPro.

I'll be able to tell dvxuser new members a year from now, "well, a long time ago, there was a legendary adapter known as the SGPro..." they will gather by the campfire to hear the adventures of Wayne Kinney, one of the 35mm cowboys. (cue country western music) :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):
