Just got this off the shoot35 site:

Hi Guys

Due to the anticipated release of the SGblade and factors beyond our control, the decision has been made to discontinue manufacture of the SGpro r3 unit. As it is now widely known we are nearing the final stages of the SGblade project which will replace the SGpro over the coming months. The preparation is being made for release to include updates to the website, SGblade footage and picture, package prices and general information.

We have a limited number of SGpro units left in stock which have been assigned to different package options from the website. Once we sell through each package these will be removed from the website and no longer be offered for purchase.

The new X/Y Adjustment Ring will now be included in the price with any package purchased with an SGflip Module or an SGflip module on its own. This represents a saving of £69 GBP and is for new orders only.

We have amended our Term & Conditions in regards to the warranty which will be the same warranty for the SGblade upon release and we will continue to fully support SGpro users. http://www.sgpro.co.uk/faq/faq.html

If you have any questions please feel free to email us at sales@shoot35.com

$836 non-flipped with rails is a deal!

Too bad we will all be trying to hold out to see if the blade comes in at a lower price than the ~$2000 that Wayne announced a while back.

Interesting that when there was originally a hue and cry over the Blade being more expensive, the answer was "yes, but you can still buy the Pro, you don't have to get the new one with all the bells and whistles!"

Hi Guys

It was the original plan to keep the SGpro going alongside the SGlade but market conditions have resulted in slow sales of the SGpro and have forced us into manufacturing only one adapter.

We did predict that the SGblade would lower the number of sales on the SGpro but not to the extent were it is not financially viable to keep it running.

As I have moved through building adapters one has always ceased to be replaced by a newer version (rev1, rev2, rev3) and although the SGblade has a different name it is essentially the next revision of our adapter.

We must move with the times and keep up with an ever growing market :)

huh? what does that have to do with the blade dan?

Looking forward to the blade!

I think you should take the last SGpro and have it set in a big block of acrylic and put it on a plinth or something. You should be very proud of it, and its a shame no one else will be able to use it :-(

wayne, i have a sgpro rev 3 and i love it...its the best thing to getting film like images. Just wondering if i decided to upgrade the sgblade, will i have to buy a whole bundle or will i be able to use my sgpro with the sgblade, hence just maybe buying one part of it. also what are the benifits and improvents to using the sg blade?

Wow. I understand the financials of it, but still kinda sucks. Based on the previous statements, I was sure that the SGPro would still be around. Makes me wonder now if I should have sold my rev3. I figured I'd just buy a new one in 9 months if the need arose :(

this is why i have 2...... :)

And im gonna get 2 blades as well ... just in case...

though, you guys know you can get the SGpro GG disc instead of the "blade" disc, and keep the famous SGpro image charachteristics....

i have a few questions wayne...

if my sgpro breaks down or gets damaged... again... will you still be able to fix it/replace parts?

will i still be able to upgrade my sgpro to the flip in a years/2years time?

are the blade and pro lens mounts the same/ can i buy a PL mount in the future to work on my SGpro?

all the best

You will be able to use parts from your SGpro on the SGblade, we have tried to make things as interchangeable as we can while maintaining product features. You can reuse the SGflip module, lens mounts (if it has a collimation ring) and the rods support.

We will ofcourse continue supporting SGpro users in the future, this will not change at all.

Because we have made the parts interchangeable, the flip module will stay compatible with the SGpro. The same goes for the lens mounts, these are all backwards compatible with the SGpro. In fact, our new stainless mounts with outer collimation rings that we are selling to SGpro users now are what will be sold with the Blade.

Some further information...

The $2000 or £999 GBP (now only $1700 due to the shift in the dollar rate) includes the SGblade, lens mount, flip module and new rods support - shipped.

To compare this to the SGpro with the same items comes to $1400 shipped.

So as you can see, there is only $300 difference for an adapter that has a lot more to offer. We are still working on other package prices - with and without flip module, rods support and also a package that only includes the SGblade base for customers that already have a flip module and/or rods support for example. Also, there will be a further £50 discount for current SGpro customers which is $86.

Wayne, has the Blade got X/Y adjustment built in? Or will users who require the adjustment have to order it like current SGPro users? Thanks!

Hi,

The X/Y adjustment is a feature of the flip module to be specific. This is now included/built in with all new flip module orders, including SGpro w/ flip orders and SGblade w/flip once it is released.

:Drogar-Love(DBG):

In that case it is hard for almost anyone to argue with the decision to discontinue the Pro... that's very close in % cost...

How much will it be minus the flip for thos of us who won't need it Wayne?
